Another interesting difference between CDN’s & Americans.

Their constitution & their education system is designed to differentiate between patriotism & remaining wary of the government of the day.

The 1st Amendment ensures the right to assemble & criticize the gov. The 2nd Amendment ensures the gov respects the first amendment.

In Canada it’s the opposite. Our system for most of my life downplayed patriotism as a nasty Americanism, while section 1 of the CDN Charter outlines the circumstances under which the gov can suspend every other right within the Charter. There is no such clause in the US Constitution or Bill of Rights. We are expected to treat our gov as benevolent & trustworthy, they treat their gov with suspicion.

We’ve seen these clashes clearly during Covid & in response to the Freedom Convoy.

IMO, we desperately need to eliminate section 1 of the Charter & at the same time teach young CDN’s that you can love your country, province, city or community while criticizing heavily those who run these places…in fact it’s your duty as a citizen to speak out.

Constitutional lawyer Keith Wilson, who represented Freedom Convoy organizers, says he's heard the same worry over and over while talking to Albertans about the independence petition: fear that signing their name could bring consequences.

It's not paranoia. In 2022, the federal government froze the bank accounts of Freedom Convoy supporters under the Emergencies Act. Four separate judges, across both the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal, later ruled that freeze illegal and unconstitutional. The federal government is appealing those rulings.

Wilson says people describe feeling something close to grief: sadness that they have to think twice before speaking up in their own country.

I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life--so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.

• People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.

• People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.

• Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.

• Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to Canada must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who come from India and surrounding areas are welcome.

• $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.

• If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free.

• People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.

• We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.

• Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now.

• Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights.

• And pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"?!

Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China.

We are clearly living in an upside down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right.

Sometimes you don’t realize how unaffordable Canada has become until you leave it.

Canadians have slowly been conditioned to accept higher taxes, impossible housing, brutal grocery bills and less money left at the end of every month as “normal.” It isn’t normal. And when people finally experience life somewhere else, it can be a massive eye-opener.

You know what happens when most Canadians miss half their performance targets?

They don't get a bonus.
They get a meeting.
Maybe a warning.

If things don't improve, they get a cardboard box and a handshake.

Only in Ottawa can you miss nearly half your department's targets and still collect a performance cheque with a straight face.

Federal executives pocketed more than $200 million in performance pay while government departments met only about 54% of their stated performance targets. Nearly 98% of executives still received performance pay.

Meanwhile, Canadians are paying more for groceries, more for gas, more for mortgages, and a recent KPMG survey found 42% of manufacturers have already moved production to the U.S. or are considering it.

In the private sector, performance determines your reward.
In Ottawa, your reward seems to determine how they'll define your performance.

That's the governing philosophy.
Not accountability.
Not value for taxpayers.

Just an insulated bureaucracy grading its own homework... and somehow still awarding itself an A.

The only workplace where failing half the test earns a bonus is the federal government. Everyone else has to live in the economy they're managing.
