so far, i love #TheRoadToSplendor, but if you asked me which one scene changed the way i saw this drama and has remained my favorite ever since, it's this one. i want to talk about it because even after rewatching it tonight, i still find myself loving it more and more 😭😭

its not only #DengEnxi’s incredible acting and #DingYuxi's worried eyes that moved me, but also all the little details in this scene. looking at the plot, this is zhaoling and tingyun's second meet. their first meeting was a threat and their second one was a rescue.

its hard to imagine that, in that era, a man would already be willing to risk his life to save a woman during only their second encounter (?) especially when they had no emotional attachment to each other yet. but then notice the details ::::
tingyun gripping zhaoling's hand, zhaoling putting his hand into tingyun's mouth to force her to spit out the poison 😭, tingyun crying in the shelter of his arms. its so painful, but somehow so beautiful intimate at the same time hikkssjakks

the way tingyun cries like a little child in front of zhaoling genuinely touched my heart. it almost made me believe that it was completely natural for a man to decide to risk his life after that night, because how could he possibly ignore a woman crying like that in his arms? omhhhh feel like i could rewatch this scene over and over just to catch every little detail again. everything feels so intimate. an intimate rescue and a heartbreaking one.

this was the moment i fell in love with this cp. the moment i thought “okay, i have to see this drama all the way to the end for them”. if there's one scene that made me feel like this drama was worth giving my time to, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲.
