@mechvibrations I guess zero fares sure is a convenient scapegoat a pandemic that disrupted labor systems (incl vehicle servicers shortages)/commuting patterns. Cities all over are experiencing the same problems. Many drivers tell me they’d quit if they had to collect fares. Let’s not test them.

It turns out that public transit is extremely important for reducing traffic. Because the relationship of traffic and congestion is extremely non-linear, a shutdown of transit can cause massive increases in congestion -- justifying substantial subsidies for trains and buses. 1/
