"Less than decade ago, expectations of scrutiny a major policy bill of this sort would undergo..were radically different. It was normal for this sort of legislation to be considered over a period of weeks with parliamentarians genuinely engaged in the detail of what was proposed"
I'm so grateful to receive this award for 2019/20 which was peak RSE intensity for me with the Society opening for membership & intense pandemic response RSE work. This community has been hugely important to me & I'm proud to have been part of building something with you all
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the Society's 'Outstanding Contribution Award' 🎉

The long postponed first ever @us_rse in-person workshop is underway in Princeton. @IanCosden introducing and setting the scene and there's already a great buzz and new connections being made.
In Liverpool today for the IOP Plasma Physics conference. Delighted that Peter Hill @zed3 is running a whole satellite meeting on FAIR community data and code. I'll be speaking about data pipelines with three examples from JET, STEP and epidemiology
This thread perfectly represents the human side of #researchsofteng for me. The thing I'm proudest of in my career so far is helping to create a home for RSEs like @mattasdata in fusion and beyond, and seeing them paying it forward with such talent and energy #RSE10Years
I'm excited to join celebrations of #RSE10Years! 🎉️ What does the Research Software Engineering #RSEng movement mean to me? In a sentence, it has helped me find a career after I had given up on an academic one. It is hard to overstate just how important that was.
In 2022 we have > 30 RSE groups in the UK, and many more internationally. Regional RSE networks are forming & gaining strength.
There are over 3000 people on the RSE slack channel & 550 members of the RSE Society.
🎉RSECon22 will be in Newcastle in Sept!!
