There's a lot of confusion about the recently patched Zcash bug. Here's how to actually understand it.

If the bug had been exploited before the patch (very unlikely it was), it would have looked like the shielded pool getting drained. Whoever minted the counterfeit shielded ZEC would want to sell fast, before anyone else found the same bug. And remember, the market for ZEC is almost entirely transparent ZEC, not shielded. You can't dump freshly minted shielded ZEC on Binance or Coinbase without unshielding it first.

The losers in that scenario are shielded holders who sit still. The transparent portion of Zcash is fully visible, so it's trivial to enforce that transparent ZEC never exceeds max supply. If you try to unshield more than the cap, you'll get stopped at the door.

So if you hold transparent ZEC (anyone trading, on an exchange, or doing price discovery on ZEC) there's no marginal effect on you. The loss falls entirely on shielded holders.

The team's next step is a new turnstile and a fresh shielded pool in the coming upgrade, which will confirm the shielded pool was not inflated. Think of it as taking headcount at the end of the field trip--that will make sure no extra kids snuck onto the bus.

But while AI found this bug, AI will also deliver the fix for the whole category: formal verification. I'm very bullish on this as the path to harden all software across the industry. Formally verified cryptography can't have implementation bugs by construction.

Right now AI is surfacing vulnerabilities across all our software--browsers, OSes, and blockchains are no exception. We're in the awkward adolescence where every wart is getting magnified and put on full display. But formally verified software is the only path forward for mission-critical software, and Zcash has put it front and center on their roadmap to deliver.

Privacy is too important not to.

Zcash has gotten a lot of hype recently, but it’s a mature technology that’s been live in production since 2016.

Unlike most privacy chains, Zcash gives users a choice: transparent (t-addr) or shielded (z-addr) transactions. With shielded transactions the sender, receiver, and amount stay private.

Zcash is also faster than comparable privacy chains, with ~75-second block times and transaction fees often under a cent.

Quicknode has launched transparent support for Zcash Mainnet and Testnet, archival data support, and full documentation.

We'll be doing more with Zcash in the coming months.

Christianity Is Under Attack, If The Pope Wants To Be A Pacifist, He Should Step Down And Give A Real Christian The Mantle To Defend Christians.

He should retire into a monastery and pray for miraculous peace, while a real Pope fights for justice.

If this Pope wants to be indifferent in a world where Jihadists want to wipe off Christians and civilization..

he should relinquish his position to someone who knows which side they belong to and is ready for "war"

It is this type of indifference, suicidal empathy and ignorant torelerance for Jihadists incursion, that has allowed the enemy to infiltrate and compromise our societies.

Today, in many places around the world civilisation, freedom, rights and Christian values are being uprooted from within,

by an enemy that was let in by woke, politically correct, virtue signalling, weak leaders.

Leaders like Pope Leo, who would in the middle of an attack by Jihadists, tell us that we should maybe be less fearful of Jihadists.

This went on for decades while they infiltrated, compromised and massacred our societies.

The world today is in a war, a war of extremist Jihadist ideology against Christianity and civilization as we know it.

That is why God gave America and the free world a wartime president to take the war to the enemies of light and civilization all over the world.

Today, civilisation is at war with Jihadists, who believe it is their divine mandate to establish a universal caliphate and remove all who do not believe in their god or way of life.

Unfortunately, woke ignorant liberals have become willing tools in the hands of the Jihadists machine against the free world.

This accelerating and aiding their own extinction.

At this point in our history, the church does not need a pacifist, virtue signaling, politically correct, peacemaker for a pope.

The church needs a wartime pope who knows exactly what side he is on and is neither ashamed nor afraid to fight for the light against the darkness.

We have tried this pretense for years, it does not work.

You are not dealing with an enemy who will change their minds because you were the bigger person.

You are dealing with an enemy who will keep kicking you while you are down, and will not stop till you are no more.

You cannot claim to be a peacemaker in a war where your enemy cannot be reasoned with, where your enemy’s very nature is perpetual war and conquest against your kind.

There is irrefutable evidence spanning centuries that this enemy will not stop nor change for anything or anyone until it has achieved its goal of subduing or removing your kind from this earth.

Yet you move with the delusion that you can somehow make peace with this enemy and you fall for known deceitful tactics that have been used by this enemy for conquest of your kind for centuries.

And then you think that somehow you are making progress.

The pope should choose where he belongs in this war, or step aside for someone who has the courage to face reality.

The reality that we are at war with an enemy that by its very nature and ideology cannot mix, adapt, coexist, adjust, forgive or tolerate anyone with a different ideology or God.

That we are at war with an enemy that by its very nature must dominate and conquer, using whatever means it can and for whatever amount of time it can to achieve its goal.

We will either fight this enemy or we will be overrun. There are no in-betweens. History serves as evidence of this fact.

We do not need a pope that calls for peace and tolerance instead of justice when his people are being massacred.

If the Pope is confused, perhaps the Pope should be more like Donald Trump.
