If you want a reason to be angry at APC today, let me introduce to you Alvin of Lagos and his truth...
You see this lie that APC thinks they will sell to Nigerians this year, mmba we will push back as hard as we can and as well as we can...
APC is evil, Coastal road has not left the cost of Lagos sef.
It's quite long but it's a good watch...
Five days into my next undercover investigation, set to be released by @fijnigeria later this week, I sent the picture in Frame 1 to my three-man backroom team. They all laughed at me, one of them remarking I looked “like a fisherman”.
The pictures in frames 2 and 3 are from my 44th day on the field. Nobody was in ebullient mood this time. They all screamed instead. None of them could say it, but I knew I could pass for a mad man on the streets.
Meanwhile, Frame 4 is who I was before I embarked on the project.
It is the first time ever that I’ve given the public a glimpse into the making of an undercover investigation. I do it this time to contextualise public understanding of the physical, material and mental cost of investigative reporting. Behind every daring work of investigation you have read is several weeks, sometimes months, of self-sacrifice by the journalist.
Of higher importance, I do it to remind younger journalists that investigative journalism isn’t the white-collar stardom propeller many seem to think it is; more often than not, it is about getting your hands dirty while still believing this is hands down the best job in the world!
It feels good to be fully back on social media after nearly five months out…
Please help me quote, repost, tag anyone who can be of help. He couldn't go to school because of crisis, the school principal told them to just keep him in the house 😔😔😔.
I was on call in a private hospital when one of my nurses developed abdominal pains.
I ran around despite resistance from the hospital's admin to ensure she got an Ultrasound (they wanted her to pay first!).
Results showed Acute Appendicitis. This private hospital refused to book her in for urgent surgery until she made a deposit of 750K (Ps-She works here and her salary is less than 180K).
We mobilized her and sent her with another nurse to a government hospital. She went to 4 different government hospitals and 'No bed space' was all they said and turned them back (not even minding she was a nurse!).
I had to ask them to bring her back to the private hospital where she finally had the surgery after myself and 3 other nurses including the patient signed to have deductions from our salaries till the debt was paid.
She had a ruptured appendix when we finally went in which changed the surgery from a simple appendectomy to an Ex-Lap. 750k became 1.6M and we had to pay it for 5 months till it was completed. She is fine now but just putting this out here.
Professor: “Peter Obi doesn't have the power of oratory, that's why he speaks awfully.”
Rufai: “Does Tinubu have the power of oratory?”
Professor: “Oratory is not important”
Even if you are a professor,
When you support BAT, you may sound like a fool.
being aware of the content creation process takes the immersion out of watching content creators bc i know she set that tripod first, hugged him, let him go, he waited, moved the tripod to the hallway, she hugged him again, let him go, moved it to the bedroom, he waited, she-
@Greymarginal@ulxma The point is that they should have backed off once she said she was 17.
Even if she lied about her age, that'd mean she wasn't interested and they should still have backed off.
Actually this is a “class action” I can get behind on my own dime. I’ll have a team do some preliminary research and if we decide to pursue, I’ll give an update. We need more public interest litigation.
Once you learn how to shop directly from China, E.g Temù or shien your wardrobe changes completely. Call me cheap I don't care I ain't rich, I don't do fraud.😭
It's knowing what to search for.
Here's my style after making plenty of mistakes.
1. T-shirts:
Skip 100% polyester unless you're buying gym wear.
Instead, search:
• 100% Cotton
• Combed Cotton
• Heavyweight Cotton
• 240-300 GSM Cotton
• Premium Cotton
• Mercerized Cotton
The heavier the GSM, the thicker and more premium the shirt usually feels.
2. Jeans:
Denim Jeans
Temu is surprisingly good for denim if you know what to search.
Search:
• Denim Jeans
• Cotton Denim
• Raw Denim
• Selvedge Denim (if available)
• 98% Cotton + 2% Elastane
• 99% Cotton
Avoid jeans with high polyester content. The more cotton, the better they'll age and feel.
3. Body-hug clothing:
Search:
• Ribbed Knit
• Modal
• Viscose Blend
• Cotton-Spandex Blend
They hold their shape much better than cheap polyester.
4. Hoodies
Search:
• 400 GSM
• French Terry
• Cotton Fleece
• Heavyweight Hoodie
5. Chains
Search:
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Titanium Steel
• PVD Gold Plated
• Vacuum Plated
These are far more resistant to fading than ordinary fashion jewelry.
6. Earrings
Search:
• 925 Sterling Silver
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Hypoallergenic
• Moissanite (if you're buying stones)
7. Scarves
Search:
• Mulberry Silk
• Silk Blend
• Cashmere Blend
• Wool Blend
• Viscose
Avoid the shiny, thin polyester scarves if you're after a premium look.
8. Loafers
Search:
• Genuine Leather
• Cow Leather
• Full Grain Leather (rare but worth looking for)
• Rubber Outsole
9. Sneakers
Search:
• Rubber Outsole
• EVA Midsole
• Breathable Mesh
• Leather Upper
• Stitched Sole
Pictures lie a lot
The description usually tells the truth.
Here's how I shop:
1. Read the material composition before anything else.
2. Sort by Most Orders or Best Selling, not cheapest.
3. Only buy products with lots of reviews or pictures or even better when a Nigerian has purchased it before they always tell the truth.
4. Read the 1-star reviews first. They'll tell you what the seller won't.
5. Look at customer photos, not the product photos.
6. Check the weight of the product. Better quality clothing is often heavier.
7. Read the size chart. Don't assume your Nigerian size matches.
8. If the title has words like "luxury," "premium," or "designer" but the material is 100% polyester, not everything but still move on.
Your best friend isn't the product picture.
It's the material, the reviews, and the customer photos.
That's how you separate the gems from the junk.
I hope this help.
Things are to expensive for a country this poor.
