The difference between 88 and 70 is 18, and as you continue down, the difference consistently decreases by 2 compared to the previous value.

So 54 - 40 = 14.
So 14 -2 = 12
12 - 40 = 28
Which means
4 = 28
Now you do 12 - 2 = 10
Then 28- 10 = 18.
So 3 = 18.
