It’s now almost clichéd to say that winter is going to be difficult for health & social care. But if it is a cliché, it’s because it’s true. Each year, we talk about this year being the toughest on record. Yet it gets tougher.
This year is no different.

We desperately need to work towards a society where health inequalities are tackled at their root. But until that can be made a reality, how do we ensure those inequalities and harms aren't compounded by inequalities in access, experiences and outcomes of care?
Worrying that the latest @CareQualityComm#StateOfCare report suggests that as people of Black, Asian and minority ethnic background age, they are at reater risk of developing #LongTermConditions and their experience of health care is comparatively poorer. https://t.co/3RLDrusObH

Wonderful day yesterday meeting with all my qual colleagues at CQC. Thanks especially to colleagues at @PolicyLabUK for showing us their work using visual ethnography - we all came away buzzing with inspiration!
@KirkwoodDW@PolicyLabUK I don't I'm afraid - although these slides show some of what they shared with us https://t.co/VrHFmtlmBX I'm definitely going to think if their 'double diamond' (slide 12) has applications in our work!

Over eight months we have been working with providers and representative groups to understand their experience of innovation, what works well and where we could do things differently to help providers who want to develop or adopt new ways of working.
I am once again asking organisations to consider whether 6-8pm (aka peak tea-bath-bedtime for little kids) is the best slot for events about the way parenthood impacts women's social/cultural/economic participation 👀
In our latest blog:
Rebecca Bauers, and Chris Dzikiti discuss what forms restrictive practices can take, and explain how the use of blanket restrictions diminishes the therapeutic power of person-centred, trauma-informed care.

Babies born in some parts of the UK can expect to live up to 16 years less than those born in other parts. Health inequalities are getting worse – but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Possibly a silly question, but can the term 'nosocomial' apply to harm caused in/by hospitals other than infections? Mainly thinking physical harm such as pressure sores, but possibly even trauma? Or is that pushing it too far?
Today is #Srebrenica Memorial Day which marks the 28th anniversary of the Bosnian genocide in which over 8,000 Muslim men and boys were murdered in the space of just a few days, and dumped in mass graves. In 2023, a significant number of the victims remains are still missing
@heathers_health I've just read your January blog on the reality of being an A&E nurse at the moment. I just wanted to say thank you for writing it and I'm so sorry for what you and your colleagues are facing.
We are listening because we care.
