Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, continues to demonstrate commitment to the welfare of Corps Members, as the State Government pays over ₦2 billion in special allowances benefiting 94,869 NYSC members between August 2025 and April 2026.

Yesterday, I joined the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a crucial meeting in Uyo ahead of the 2027 elections.

At the meeting, I formally consulted the stakeholders on my intention to seek a second term as Governor and thanked them for their loyalty, support, and commitment to the progress of our State.

I urged everyone to approach the forthcoming primaries with maturity, peace, and a spirit of sportsmanship, remembering that no personal ambition is greater than the collective interest of our party and our State.

With unity, mutual respect, and the fear of God, we will continue to work together for a greater and more prosperous Akwa Ibom, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Renewed Hope Agenda, whose reelection we have also collectively endorsed.

Yesterday, I commissioned the Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility at Ekpri Nsukara, Uyo, as part of the Agricultural Revolution component of our ARISE Agenda.

The facility will help farmers move from subsistence farming to mechanised agriculture, making food production easier, faster, and more profitable. Leasing of the equipment will be subsidized by 50 percent to support our farmers.

I commend the young professionals who delivered this project with excellence and dedication, and I encourage farmers, cooperatives, and local government councils to make full use of it.

Our goal is to increase food production, create wealth, and make food more available and affordable for our people.

I am pleased to announce that following Presidential approval for the upgrade of Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, to international status, the maiden international flight from Uyo to Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, is set to take off on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

The historic flight will be operated by our flagship carrier, Ibom Air, with a return flight scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026.

This milestone marks another major step in our commitment to expanding aviation capacity, improving global connectivity, and positioning Akwa Ibom as a preferred destination for tourism, trade, and investment.

I deeply appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for granting the approval, and the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his support in making this vision a reality. I’m happy to share that I have successfully defended my Doctoral Degree in Public Administration in the Department of Political Science and Administration, University of Uyo! My thesis, titled “Government and Private Sector Development: A Study of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Akwa Ibom State,” is a blueprint that aligns with my vision for strengthening SMEs in the state.

This accomplishment is dedicated to my late wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, who encouraged me to pursue this academic goal. I know she is smiling down with pride.
