March 1st! Midnight Books at Art Space HP opening night with a night of poetry in solidarity with Palestine. It wouldn’t feel right to throw a launch party with the pending invasion of Rafah so we’re presenting poetry for Palestine. 7pm
@jaas2x this isn’t what our Gurus taught us. at all.
and the fact that you took time out of your day to post this??? sounds like u wanna be a bisexual goose real bad
Poetry magazine is not featuring voices from Gaza during this terrible time, when the world most needs to hear us. Not in their October, November, December, January, February issues.
What is poetry that does not teach, that does not address ongoing suffering, that does not make us grieve, that does not feel like poetry.
I have no respect at all for this magazine unless it changes.
Even if there is a process for this, you must reach out to poets in Gaza, assuming there is internet connection. Well, many poets have died, so you won’t have to reach out to many.
I will never forget when I got a rejection from you, just two days after the start of the genocide.
You didn’t even care to get back to me after I was kidnapped and ask for another submission, though I contributed one time to one of your issues.
my heart is so heavy & grows so much heavier whenever I do “mundane” things, “normal” things, like eating or making an (essential) purchase, & I feel like I observe people differently now, I look at them with a pain in my heart & a sort of disdain as they behave obliviously
I'm hyper aware that there are less Palestinians online sharing their experiences and real time news and it's not because they're tired and overwhelmed (which they have the right to be) but because they are dead. They're dead. They are dead.
Three Palestinian students shot. Yet, we will be inundated with one sided news stories of how Jewish students feel unsafe on campuses. Again — these are the stakes here.
Three young Palestinian men, Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ali and Kenan Abdulhamid, students at Brown and other US universities, were shot last night on their way to a family dinner in Burlington, USA. Their crime? Wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh. They are critically injured. And Six weeks ago, 6-year old Palestinian child was stabbed 26 times in a hate crime in Illinois. The hate crimes against Palestinians must stop. Palestinians everywhere need protection.
@POTUS@SecBlinken
We 100% live in hell because how are you gunna pause a genocide on the Indigenous people of Palestine so you can celebrate a holiday that is also based on a genocide of the Indigenous people of the US
