A beautiful and heartwarming meeting between President John Mahama and MPs of the UK House of Commons and Peers of the House of Lords all of whom have proud Ghanaian heritage.
President Mahama’s delegation to the UK also met with UK MPs with African heritage and UK MPs with a large number of Ghanaian constituents.
We are cementing our solidarity and developing a framework on how to advance impactful Ghana-UK relations at all levels, particularly, between the executive and the legislature.
This family meeting discussed working together on reparatory justice, revamping trade, rapid industrialization, AI, creating aviation competition on the Accra-London route with a focus on reviving Ghana Airways, climate justice, youth empowerment and immigration.
President Mahama is seeking concrete alignments in the interest of the people we serve as Ghana prepares to chair the AU next year and as the UK assumes the G20 Presidency at the same time.
Ghana is exceedingly proud of our outstanding and incredibly talented brothers and sisters in the Commons and Lords.
For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾
President John Dramani Mahama arrived in the historic city of Gondar, Ethiopia, on Friday for an official visit at the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali.
The visit comes ahead of the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa, to be held in Bahir Dar.
Shortly after arriving at Gondar Airport, President Mahama joined the Prime Minister to switch on the Megech Irrigation Development Project, a massive dam-and-reservoir infrastructure designed to transform agriculture and water supply in the region.
The ambitious project, which began 18 years ago, stalled until Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali revived it three years ago and completed it.
Spanning 870 hectares with a storage capacity of 185 million cubic metres, the Megech Dam is set to have a profound socio-economic impact. It will support irrigation of 17,000 hectares of agricultural land, significantly bolstering food security and productivity.
In addition, the facility will provide a reliable supply of clean, potable water to the city of Gondar and its surrounding satellite towns.
President Mahama commended the Government and people of Ethiopia for their resilience and dedication in delivering a transformative project that will serve generations to come.
President Mahama will travel to Bahir Dar on Saturday to chair the 12th Tana High-Level Forum, where African leaders, policymakers, and security experts will discuss pressing peace, governance, and security challenges across the continent. #MahamaInEthiopia
Cheaper power will not come from headlines alone, but if Tano’s oil and gas numbers hold up, a shared development hub could cut costs and make more local energy viable for Ghana. Big potential, but it still needs investment and firm projects. https://t.co/dRO32Uj0An
For households and small shops, the real test is whether Tano’s potential oil and gas can become cheaper, reliable energy at home. Over 1 billion barrels sounds huge, but Ghana still needs investment and shared infrastructure to make it real. https://t.co/dRO32UjypV
If the Tano Basin numbers move from potential to real projects, Ghana could have more local oil and gas to support power supply and public revenue. The key test is whether shared infrastructure can make development cheaper and faster. https://t.co/dRO32UjypV
Over 1 billion barrels of oil and 2.5 tcf of gas in the Tano Basin is a huge potential prize for Ghana, but it only matters if the shared hub idea can cut costs and turn scattered resources into real production. https://t.co/dRO32Uj0An
If Ghana can turn these Tano Basin resources into real projects, the biggest impact may be new investment and skilled jobs. The key is that the oil and gas are still potential, so financing and development deals will decide what happens next. https://t.co/dRO32UjypV
Guinea’s case shows how quickly power systems can be squeezed when fuel supply, thermal plants and low hydro levels all hit at once. Adding 150 MW from floating power is a fast backup, not a substitute for a stronger mix. https://t.co/17WO0DaVM0
If the Tano Basin numbers hold up, Ghana could attract serious oil and gas investment. The key is turning potential resources into real projects without letting infrastructure costs swallow the opportunity. https://t.co/dRO32Uj0An

Tamale, Kawula?
My first stop here was a meeting with Regional Ministers, MMDCEs and Coordinating Directors on strengthening financial accountability across Ghana’s MMDAs.
I was pleased to announce that Government has released the third quarter DACF. This means we are fully up to date, with all three quarters paid.
This is a major shift from the past, and a clear demonstration of our commitment to timely releases and stronger local governance!
For Ghana, the big change would be cost: a shared Tano Basin hub could make scattered oil and gas finds cheaper to develop. The headline number is huge, but it only matters if investment turns potential resources into real production. https://t.co/dRO32Uj0An
