Story that caught the eye: Centre says it will not be possible to send Sikh pilgrims to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan this year for Guru Nanak Jayanti because of ‘security situation’. So pilgrims can be stopped but cricket matches will happily carry on! Yes, matches are in UAE but the Jatha to Nankana Sahib is a revered age old tradition that must be preserved. Some traditions must rise above hostilities: let not faceless pilgrims and their faith get caught in a tug of war between nations. 🙏

Supporters argue that although ICE claims she was living in the U.S. illegally, she has spent more than 30 years in the country with no criminal record, abiding by the law and contributing positively to society. They note that for the past 13 years she has consistently reported to authorities every six months and remained in contact with agencies, even after her political asylum case was rejected. Community members, lawyers, and family have organized rallies demanding her immediate release, citing her advanced age, fragile health, and decades of service, while ICE has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
