ЁЯТФ When Seeking Justice Starts Feeling Like Fear
My senior citizen father was abused and physically assaulted by four people on the road. Like any ordinary family, my father and some villagers went to the police station to file a complaint and seek legal protection. During the inquiry, the SHO brought my father back to the village, and one accused person was taken into custody while another reportedly went to the house of a former village sarpanch. The police team also went there, and my father remained sitting inside the police vehicle for a long time during the process.
After returning to the police station, my father and family members kept waiting, but we felt no clear or urgent action was being taken. Feeling helpless and worried for my familyтАЩs safety, I posted a tweet requesting authorities to take action.
After this, the situation became even more painful for our family. My father, my uncle, and my uncleтАЩs son were allegedly made to remove their clothes inside the police station, which caused deep humiliation and mental trauma to our family. My uncleтАЩs son was also allegedly beaten despite not being involved in the original assault incident and only accompanying the family for support.
Later, through another personтАЩs phone, I allegedly received pressure to delete my tweet. My father also requested me to remove it because he felt deeply humiliated and feared the situation was becoming worse. Out of fear and concern for my family, I deleted the tweet.
Despite my father being the victim of the assault, preventive action under Section 151 was later imposed on my father, my uncle, and my uncleтАЩs son, and they had to return home on bail instead of feeling protected by the system they approached for help.
Today, my family is emotionally shattered and afraid. I respectfully request the authorities to ensure that no unfair or retaliatory action is taken against my family in the future. I also respectfully request that the CCTV footage of the police station be examined so that the truth of what happened inside can be fairly verified.
I request senior authorities, including @Didwanapolice, @PoliceRajasthan, @Rajeev_ips, @India_NHRC, @HMOIndia, @ANI, @PTI_News, @RajPoliceHelp, @RajCMO, and @ndtvindia, to kindly look into this matter and ensure accountability, fairness, and protection for ordinary citizens. I also request reassurance that my family will remain safe and free from fear or harassment.
Law should create fear in criminals, not fear in ordinary citizens who come seeking justice and dignity.
If this reaches you, please read and share. Today it is my familyтАЩs story. Tomorrow it could be any ordinary family in India.
