🗣️ Zinedine Zidane on Cristiano Ronaldo:
“First, congratulations to Messi for his performance and hat trick. At 39 years old, what he is doing is incredible, but today I want to speak about Cristiano Ronaldo.
Today is Ronaldo’s day. Whenever he plays, football wins because we are watching one of the greatest players in history. People talk about his age, but his ambition, mentality, and desire to win remain exactly the same.
Portugal have a fantastic squad. Their midfield is full of quality—Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Bernardo Silva can compete with any midfield in the world. Technically, they are outstanding players.
However, sometimes I feel Ronaldo does not receive the same support that Messi receives with Argentina. Argentina understand how to maximize Messi’s strengths and help him influence the game. Portugal have the quality to do the same for Ronaldo.
Cristiano has spent nearly twenty years giving everything to his country. He has scored goals, broken records, won trophies, and carried Portugal through some of their greatest moments. If this is one of his final chances to achieve something special again with Portugal, then everyone around him should be helping make that dream a reality.
What makes Ronaldo special is not only his talent but his mentality. He never stops believing, never stops competing, and never stops fighting for victory.
That is why today I will be watching Cristiano Ronaldo. Not because he has something left to prove, but because legends deserve to be appreciated while they are still playing.” 🇵🇹🐐

Congratulations to the Tesla team and thank you to the regulatory authorities in the Netherlands for all the hard work required to make this happen.
Final update for tonight. I’m seeing some lightning activity in the core of #Marta, which is still some distance away from Portugal. This indicates that we have convection ongoing, which is known for producing very high rainfall rates.
Flash flooding is going to be a serious concern tomorrow as this moves over deeply saturated soil across Portugal and Spain. Don’t ignore the wind threat.
I will be back with updates in the morning.
Storm Marta looks really concerning, and yet again, I dont think the Portuguese are aware of how impactful this situation COULD be. We saw the damage from Storm Kristin and its still there + the flooding currently ongoing.
There is growing confidence in high res models (mainly the ICONS) that another sting jet will impact Portugal in a very similar place as it did last time. Gusts could reach 85mph+ along coasts which would likely result in more damage than Storm Kirstin due to the weakened infrastructure. Please stay up to date on this situation if u live in Portugal.
⚠️ ATTENTION: Do not underestimate Storm #Marta!
The Portuguese people are not being sufficiently warned about what’s coming. Recent model guidance has been adjusting to newer data and I expect Marta to continue intensifying up until landfall tomorrow.
NOTE: I don’t expect this storm to be as severe as Kristin, but a storm doesn’t need to be historic to be dangerous. As most of you know, Portugal and Spain remain in a very critical situation with severe flooding unfolding. Marta will not only bring widespread *heavy* rain but the continued intensification suggests a risk of very strong winds.
It’s still unclear exactly what areas will be affected by the worst winds, but it’s reasonable to expect the strongest gusts across central and southern Portugal and also in parts of the north, especially wherever the center of the storm makes landfall. There is a possibility of particularly strong winds in excess of 120-130 km/h near the core of the storm.
Trees and power lines will be more prone to fall with soils continuing to be deeply saturated.
In summary:
Please prepare for widespread disruptive winds and further heavy rainfall exacerbating the ongoing flood crisis.
Thank you for reading and be sure to share this information! The more people that know what’s coming, the better.
Whilst many of us are sick of the rain, spare a thought for those in Spain and Portugal. #StormLeonardo is set to bring disruptive weather in the days ahead🌧️
Following #StormKristin last week, further flooding and landslides are expected with severe disruption possible ⚠️
