Very interesting article about the Zombie apocalypse tactic to get the public’s attention about certain issues. How do you guys feel about this? #BSCI421@BSCIProf

@SeashellyW@BSCIProf I think the discussion for vaccines for adults is not advertised as much compared to children. The only shots I was aware adults needed were the flu, TB, pneumonia, and shingles shots. I was not aware of the measles, tetanus, and others written in the article #BSCI421@BSCIProf
The conversation about vaccines is still today controversial.Celebrities, some of the most watched&followed people in the world are chiming in to the discussion. How do you guys think celebrities impact others decisions about vaccines? #BSCI421@BSCIProf

Something to think about that some may think is out of their control is air pollution and it’s affect on heart disease. How can air pollution be minimized? #BSCI421@BSCIProf
One third of deaths from stroke, lung cancer and heart disease are due to air pollution. What role are you playing to make a difference ?#WorldEnvironmentDay
@HannahMarkham4 @BSCIProf Changing my lifestyle was very important and necessary, I used to smoke about a pack a week and now I’m almost a year cigarette free. I excercise regularly (almost everyday) and I try to maintain 6-7 hours of sleep every night #BSCI421@BSCIProf
@BSCIProf 1. Maintain a healthy diet: staying away from saturated fats, high sodium foods, and added sugars
2. Get regular exercise
3. Limit alcohol/tobacco use

@dchaps95 I agree with their 5,but I think more needs to be done with ensuring that food is grown safely.Faster production often overrules the safety factor in our foods. Watch the movie “Food Inc”. It’ll really open your eyes about the foods that are “safe” around us #bsci421@BSCIProf
Did you know that June 7 is world food safety day? As it says here food that is unsafe kills about 420,000 people every year! Have any of you had any kind of food illness/poisoning or caught yourself before eating food that is unsafe? #BSCI421@BSCIProf
Unsafe food kills an estimated 420,000 people every year.
On Friday's 1st-ever #WorldFoodSafetyDay, see why food safety is everyone’s business: https://t.co/n05jSEdPcE #GlobalGoals
Question for you guys, if we were able to use alternatives to insecticides such as this method that is efficient in killing all mosquitoes, (in turn eradicating malaria) on earth, how do you think that would affect the “circle of life”? In terms of food chain #BSCI421@BSCIProf
Recent breakthrough for malaria& the use of a strain of the fungus that is specific to mosquitoes&engineered it to produce a toxin that increase the virulence of the pathogen so that it could kill the insects faster than they can breed. #BSCI421@BSCIProf

@KyleJoh34854936@BSCIProf Very interesting that they are using genomics to further research the disease.I think it is cool that they found a molecular marker of resistance to piperaquine. More research with this technology gives me hope for better preventative measures& treatments #BSCI421@BSCIProf
@BSCIProf Preventative measures include using bug spray, mosquito nets, wearing longer sleeves and taking anti malarial drugs if traveling in a malaria rich region #BSCI421@BSCIProf
@dchaps95 I use tanning beds only after (sometimes during)winter season as it helps with depression, however I limit myself to only two-three times a year at 5 min at most&apply ample sunscreen before.I am terrified of the effects on my skin using the beds but it helps #BSCI421@BSCIProf
This study talks about how skin cancer incidence rates are the highest among older people in the United States. Is this surprising to any of you? #BSCI421@BSCIProf
https://t.co/GTZMcLWfrR
@BSCIProf Every time I am exposed to the sun I will apply sunscreen, this was instilled in me when I was younger as my mom would apply& reapply it often. Now with my skin cancer knowledge I am always apply& reapplying.Broad spectrum of spf 30 & up is the best sunscreen #BSCI421@BSCIProf
@dchaps95 I think this could lower theSTD rates of the country.People would be more inclined to take tests at home than at a health office.Regarding being positive for a STD,questions that arise could possibly be answered over the phone due to the embarrassment factor #BSCI421@BSCIProf
