#Belanjawan2027#bersama
Extremely wise words by Shivshankar Menon, India's former Foreign Secretary and National Security Advisor.
Asked by the host what worries him about India - what is a burden of history for India - he replied that "there is such a thing as excessive pride in your past."
He explains that talking of "your glorious golden ages in the past" to "feel good about yourself" is ok - a normal aspect of building an identity for yourself - but "when you then carry it on into victimhood and into revenge for history" and when that becomes a driving force for today's actions, then it becomes "dangerous."
He takes the example of people in India speaking about "a thousand years of slavery" (meaning Muslim and then British rule) or of Chiang Kai-shek writing every night in the top right of his diary "never forget national humiliation" (I checked and he actually wrote 雪耻 - xuě chǐ - which means "avenge the humiliation": https://t.co/6y1P9HUMfC, he did it from 1928 until his last diary entry in July 1972).
It's a wise point in general: when you think about it, nationalism isn't necessarily destructive in and of itself. But it becomes so when you convince yourself as a nation or people that you are a victim and that there is a guilty party. Because, as Menon puts it, it makes you "stop dealing with reality as it is" and leads to "counterproductive policy and ideas."
All the more dangerous because it’s so easy: nothing easier as a people, or as the ruler of a nation, than to blame others for what’s wrong. It spares you the much harder work of looking at your own failings, and absolves the rulers of responsibility.
And the inverse is really hard: nothing harder when you have indeed been a victim than to resist turning that grievance into a political program, and to instead focus on what you can actually build today - which often involves working hand in hand with the guilty party.
Which is, incidentally, why what China did was so impressive. It could have turned national humiliation into policies of revenge and hatred but instead chose to define it largely as China's own mistake for having been weak enough that foreigners could take advantage of that (Xi Jinping himself defines it that way in his book: https://t.co/kmmdYdWSjm). Which is constructive, because then the objective isn't revenge but building yourself, and China did that working hand in hand with the West.
We’re seeing some version of victimhood drive policies in too many countries around the world. Europe is, sadly, a case in point: Russia and China have become the all-purpose explanation for almost every problem on the continent, from energy prices to deindustrialization. Very practical for EU leaders who never have to answer for their own choices...
It's a good rule of thumb to have: if any politician builds his message around blame, take it as a red flag. That's what you reach for when you won't build.

U.S. WARSHIP ADRIFT FOR 4 DAYS AFTER CHASING CHINA VESSEL
All toilets on a US warship stopping working as it lost power while chasing a Chinese ship in the South China Sea, it was revealed this week.
Three hundred American sailors were left in misery and had to abandon their pursuit of the Chinese navy ship Zunyi.
Not only did the power failure mean the US vessel had no toilets, but the ship’s kitchens stopped functioning, and so did the air-conditioning—leaving sailors in 37C (98.6F) temperatures with limited water rations.
The propulsion system stopped too, meaning that the ship was adrift, unable to move.
Their misery was only relieved four days later when the USS Benfold was towed to the Philippines.
.
INTIMIDATION RUN
The incident happened on the 24th of July but full details have only just been revealed, with the Chinese side revealing what they saw to the Global Times.
It turned out that the US warship was on an intimidation run.
The Chinese navy ship Zunyi was practicing its daily training exercises in the South China Sea when a heavily armed US vessel moved into the area and started following it.
The Chinese ship made high speed evasive maneuvers and the Americans copied them—which was when trouble struck. Chinese sailors were puzzled to note that all the lights suddenly went out on the pursuing vessel, which stopped following them.
.
U.S. RULES ASIA
While the Chinese sailors did not name the USS Benfold, observers noted that the US ship had been reported to suffer a catastrophic power failure in the South China Sea, and put two and two together.
Since 1948, US foreign policy has said that Asians must never rule Asia, and the US alone has the right to be the dominant power in that part of the world.
Their argument is that the US is associated with peace and harmony. I don’t know, what do you think?

@khalidkarim Didn't realize you'd replied. I did the math in my head: fuel isn't the major part of the tariff - network, system, and capacity are. So any marginal drop in fuel only marginally lowers the tariff. Have you done a detailed calculation? Share lah.
@Bird_XRPL I think I’ve been here long enough to see people come and go, and many broken-hearted people. I almost missed it as well. Hope to see you all the way.
America has now been perfectly crafted for Jewish rule.
They have the Mexicans to do manual labor.
They have the Whites as an administrative/ Soldier class to die in wars.
They have the Blacks pacified by wealth transfers, but also get to use their athletic ability to entertain the goyim.
They have the Indians to work as a perfect cheap IT labor class, but also to discriminate against White men in tech fields while “Increasing shareholder value.”
And the Jews get to sit on top. Blackmailing politicians with Epstein. Running the media and Hollywood. Rigging the stock market and giving each other government contracts for AI while everyone else serves them…
Only just found out about what EASYA_App was all about. Kwok bros enthusiasm is very infectious.
I’m learning about @RippleXDev with @EasyA_App on my phone.
@khalidkarim Tulah mungkin boleh buat kat akaun, tapi cuma shift cost je. Banyak bisnes kecik boleh lingkup bila tariff naik. Mungkin boleh buat dalam masa 10-20 tahun kot. Kalau naik terus, tak banyak bisnes boleh tahan.
@khalidkarim Yes, ring-fencing can be done at accounting level. It shows cheap gas is enough for homes. But it's not a win-win. It moves costs, not cuts them. Then comes the hard question: who pays the true cost? Not all businesses can absorb higher tariff.
@khalidkarim Tuan, aku pun nak tariff rendah. Tapi Single Buyer campur semua gas sebab itu cara paling murah & senang untuk grid. Kalau guna gas murah untuk rumah saja, power plant jadi kacau. Semua kos naik. Bisnes bayar lebih, rumah bayar kurang. Govt tak boleh buat selamanya.
Iran's President SCRAPPED Prepared UN Speech After Trump's Threats
President Masoud Pezeshkian says he arrived with a prepared speech, but ABANDONED it after hearing Trump threaten to "annihilate" Iran and use what he called the "language of force."
The result was a POWERFUL wartime address confronting the U.S. and Israel over the war, the killing of children in Minab, Gaza, sanctions, terrorism accusations and Western claims of human rights.
His message was defiant but left the door open to diplomacy: Iran will negotiate, but will NOT "Bend the Knee" to threats or military pressure.
@khalidkarim I'm not an expert, but I think legacy deals made local gas prices what they are. On electricity pricing, fuels are only part of a bigger issue: larger cost drivers are grid infrastructure, storage, and system integration, which are fixed or rising regardless of fuel mix.
