On 7 March, Masoud Pezeshkian went on television and effectively apologised to the states that had been struck, saying something unambiguous: "No more missiles will be fired at these countries unless an attack on Iran originates from their territory." He urged the Gulf states not to be "toys in the hands of imperialism."

The same day, the IRGC issued a statement that wasn't an endorsement but a correction: the armed forces "respect the interests and sovereignty of neighbouring countries, and have not attacked them thus far."
Meaning: there was nothing to apologise for in the first place.
The president then had to "clarify" on his own account that Iran hadn't struck its neighbours, only American bases. And voices rose internally demanding a new Supreme Leader be installed quickly, to marginalise him.
A sitting president contradicted within twenty-four hours.

And today Pezeshkian writes that the memorandum is "the product of the collective wisdom of the Supreme National Security Council's members, and all members are in agreement with it."

Nobody says that sentence unless it isn't true.
It comes two weeks after the Supreme Leader said the American president's signature is "utterly worthless," and on the same day the Leader's own representative called a ceasefire "a deception so the enemy can redeploy and attack again."

THREE positions from one state in two weeks.

Not going to paint Pezeshkian as a besieged moderate. The division may be purely functional: a reasonable face for foreigners and for a public exhausted by 88% inflation, while the Guard runs actual policy. A pleasant face costs Tehran nothing.

But the conclusion is the same either way: Pezeshkian measures the pressure. He doesn't make the decision.
His speeches tell you about the interior he's the one who said "the most important battlefield today is the economy and people's livelihoods." They tell you nothing about what Iran will do tomorrow.
And whoever priced Iranian behaviour off the March speech got the whole summer wrong.

Once the epicenter of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, serving as the last bastion of resistance against Assad & his allies, the province was home to ~1,140 IDP camps.

Today, 500+ of those camps are closed as displaced families continue returning to their hometowns.

Idlib is also undergoing a major reorganization of its camp network, with partially vacated camps being closed & their remaining residents relocated to other sites.

اعلم أن اليسار العربي أربعة يسارات.

أولها اليسار القومي، وهذا صعد في حقبة الصراع مع الاستعمار، واعتبر التحرّر قضية تنظيم عسكري أو لا تكون: شعب، حرب، أرض، دولة. ولكنه حالما وصل إلى الحكم من خلال البيرقراطية الاستعمارية استنفد نفسه، ففشل في تحويل الدولة أو تقوية الاقتصاد أو التحكم بمسار الثقافة، فانهارت قواه خلال جيل واحد وصعدت على أكتافه الحركة الإسلامية. وبعد تنظير جدي أثّر في وجدان أجيال عربية كثيرة، أصبح اليوم علكة تلوكها ألسنة الإعلام الإيراني الذي يشيطن العرب بالفارسية ويتغزّل بفلسطين ولبنان واليمن بالعربية.

الثاني هو اليسار الطبقي، وهذا صعد مع ترجمة الأفكار الشيوعية من الألمانية والفرنسية ثم الروسية لاحقاً، وكان همّه فهم وتوجيه التطوّر المادي للمجتمع، أي أنماطه الاقتصادية التي تحدّد شكل دولته ونُظُم أخلاقه العامة. وهذا اعتبر الاستعمار جزءاً من حركة المال حول العالم، وبالتالي عدواً للبشر كافة لا لشعوب بعينها فقط. هذا اليسار الطبقي أمتن من أخيه القومي نظرياً، لكنه حوّل عقيدته إلى دين بديل، وأخفق في فهم التاريخ غير المادي بما يشمل الصداقة والقرابة والريف وكثافة اللاهوت في حياة البشر، ثم لم يطوّر فلسفته مع تطوّر الزمن. والآن أكله الصدأ ولم تبق منه سوى أفكار شيّقة منتهية الصلاحية.

أواخر السبعينات، دشّنت الولايات المتحدة سياسة خارجية قوامها ترويج مفهوم جديد للديمقراطية، أي حقوق الأفراد والممارسات الحكومية الفضلى وإدماج النخب في الحياة الثقافية الغربية. هكذا حُسم الخلاف داخل الحركة الديمقراطية بعدما كانت ممزّقة بين ديمقراطية شعبية (شيوعية) وديمقراطية برجوازية (رأسمالية). وفي الثمانينات بدأت حركة حقوق الإنسان المعولمة في الانتشار، من أمنستي وهيومان رايتس وغيرها، فتراجع المناضلون، وصعد المحامون والباحثون والإداريون، وعادت البرجوازية مقبولة في أعين اليساريين بعد عقود من تكفيرهم لها. ومع نهايات الحرب الباردة، بدت الرطانة الديمقراطية الجديدة حلاً سحرياً لأزمة اليساريين المتبرئين من الاتحاد السوفييتي، وعنواناً أخلاقياً يمحو عار الأخبار القادمة من معسكرات ومعتقلات أوروبا الشرقية، ثم عورات الأنظمة التقدمية في العالم الثا��ث، ثم تورُّم وتضخُّم الأحلام اليسارية فوق ما تسمح به موارد الدول وقدرات حكامها. وقتها انتفخت فكرة «المجتمع المدني» التي صارت تعني النخب الليبرالية المعولمة التي تقضم الأدوار الاجتماعية للدول وتيسّر بيع الموارد للشركات والقضايا للمنظمات.

هكذا ولد اليسار الثالث، اليسار الحقوقي، الذي انتقلت قطاعات من اليسار القومي إليه، فانتقل التفكير من حرية الأمة إلى حرية الفرد، وهذا الفرد تسهر على التعاطف معه والمطالبة بحقوقه قوانين دولية ومنظمات محلية وثقافة نشاطية وشبكات مناصرة منتشرة حول العالم.

وفي المقابل، بعد عقود من الفشل القومي والطبقي، ولد اليسار التنويري، الناقد لا للاستعمار ولا للرأسمالية بل للدين، دين محمد بن عبد الله على وجه التحديد. وتنامى هذا اليسار بعد أحداث الحادي عشر من أيلول وبدء الحرب الأميركية على تنظيم القاعدة. هنا انتقلت ��رائح اليسار البرجوازي من نقد الدولة والسوق إلى نقد المجتمع والثقافة، وانتقل تفكيرها من صراع المستغلّين والفقراء إلى صراع المتخلّفين والأذكياء. لم يعد الاقتصاد هو الذي يحدّد شكل المجتمع عندهم، بل الكهنوت فقط لا غير. صار الاستغلال روحياً فقط، ولم يعد للطائفية علاق�� بحركة القوة والثروة في المجتمع بل فقط بتعاليم الإسلام العصية على العلمنة. المشكلة ليست في علاقات الإنتاج بل في المعتقدات والمفاهيم التي يتبناها الناس ويتحركون على أساسها.

هذا اليسار التنويري وليد فكر فرنسي معدوم الإنجازات تماماً، ولكنه بدل الالتفات لمعدوميته يقرر شتم المتدينين الذين يعتبرهم سبب حرمانه من عبقريته، وما عبقريته سوى كره تاريخي للترك والعرب وسُعار غير مفهوم تجاه المتدينين وضآلة فلسفية ساحقة مع البراغماتية الإنكليزية يجري تعويضها بالتباهي العقلانوي.

في حالتي اليسار القومي والطبقي، تمثلت الهزيمة الأكبر في العجز عن إنتاج سيادة فعلية صلبة يتشكل حولها مجتمع متماسك، وفي التوقّف عن التنظير لسياسة حسّاسة للمجتمع ولتاريخه المحلي المادي والمعنوي. ونقصد بالتنظير استيعاب وقائع الحياة التواصلية والتبادلية والقرابية والروحية والتنظيمية ضمن رؤية واحدة، تفهم الماضي وتفكر في أجيال المستقبل، وبالتالي تمهّد الدرب لتطوير أسواق قوية ونُظُم تمدُّن واسعة، بما يشدّ عَضُد الدول مع الوقت ويحمي المجتمعات من الفاقة والحرب. وقد انتهى هذان اليساران الآن ولم يبق منهما إلا حركات شيعية يتيمة ودوائر ماركسية محدودة الأثر.

أما اليسار الحقوقي واليسار التنويري فلا تعنيهما السيادة ولا الذات السياسية الفاعلة أصلاً. فكلاهما ابن العولمة الرأسمالية التي دفع جيل اليسار السابق أعماره لمحاربتها، وكلاهما وليد هزيمة كبرى مُنيت بها الشيوعية وفَتّتتْ نضالها الشعبي حول العالم، وكلاهما يعيش على اقتصاديات المانحين وموشّحات النقد البرّاني التي لا تُغني ولا تُسمن من جوع.

من يقول عن نفسه يساري اليوم هو إما حقوقي يحارب «المجرمين» أو تنويري يحارب «الظلاميين». كلاهما أفشل من أخيه.

Spain has partly itself to blame for this. It offered Morocco to host the World Cup together, meaning billions will be spend on stadiums instead of on healthcare and schools. It keeps pumping money into the country, expecting Morocco to stop migrants in return.
