FIRS announces three-day shutdown of IT services

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced a temporary shutdown of its information technology (IT) systems.

According to a notice on Thursday, the @FIRSNigeria said all applications and IT infrastructure will be unavailable from November 28 to November 30, 2025.

“The general public should note that there will be an FIRS IT services downtime,” the service said.

“The shutdown of applications and IT infrastructure will commence on 28th November and end on 30th November, 2025.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has instructed all secondary schools, both private and public, to promptly send their boarding students home in light of the increasing security concerns throughout the nation.

The instruction was communicated through a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin.

The statement highlights that the growing security issues nationwide have put boarding students in both public and private secondary schools at risk of being targeted by bandits. It references the recent student abductions in Kebbi and Niger states as examples of this threat.

Dr. Godwin communicated that, in light of the current circumstances, Governor Kefas has issued a directive requiring all secondary schools, both public and private, to function exclusively as day schools for the time being. Principals and school owners have been advised to promptly arrange for the deboarding of all students.

She emphasized that this decision is a precautionary step aimed at safeguarding the lives of students and averting potential security risks associated with the escalating unrest in the area.

The Taraba government has assured parents of its dedication to reestablishing stability and has promised to collaborate closely with security agencies to address the situation. School officials are also encouraged to adhere to the directive completely and enhance security measures on their grounds.
