A British jury could not agree that this attack on a female police officer that broke her spine was Grievous Bodily Harm. Sgt Kate Evans was off work for 3 months and couldn’t shower or get into bed unassisted. So is it open season on police now? Shocking
A police officer was stabbed with a screwdriver as he fought off armed burglars at his home, a court has heard.
Pc Andrew Kemp confronted the three masked men at his home in Newbury, Berkshire, while his wife and children were sleeping.
He grabbed one of them and clung on, despite being repeatedly stabbed with a long screwdriver, slashed with a knife and bludgeoned with a metal bar by the other two.
Downplaying his bravery, Pc Kemp told jurors at Reading Crown Court: “I’m a police officer; it’s what I do.”
Pc Kemp told the court he was woken in the early hours of May 15 last year by a neighbour’s phone call warning him of masked intruders with torches on his property.
Dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, he confronted them while trying to open his garage.
Two managed to use a woodpile to help scale an 8ft garden fence, but he grabbed Jordan Dashwood, 22, on his way up.
As they wrestled, one of the other intruders said: “Stab him,” while the other replied: “I’ll do it.”
PC Kemp let go of Dashwood briefly in order to release police dog Astle – a highly trained Belgian Malinois – from his kennel.
Then he and the dog grabbed the fleeing Dashwood as his accomplices tried to haul him back over the fence.
It was then Pc Kemp was struck with a metal implement twice on the head. He said: “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been hit with in my life.”
He said that he and Astle managed to wrestle Dashwood down as the accomplices fled.
But the raider continued to struggle and was only subdued when Pc Kemp punched him.
Jurors heard the officer suffered two gashes to his scalp, a knife wound in his right arm, a screwdriver puncture wound to his elbow, a screwdriver wound to his cheek, and a defensive cut to his hand.
Dashwood, of Oak Drive, Poole, Dorset, admitted going equipped for theft but denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and jurors acquitted him of that offence.
He was jailed for 18 months.

Just got home from a night shift. 0755hrs. Please can we stop normalising today as a day off. It is not. I've just done a 12.5hr night shift. I'm knackered. Acid reflux. Headache. Semi delirious. This is not a day off. A day off is a functioning adult, activities, and errands.
Controversial statement - If you know your Daughter is dating a Drug Dealer, involved in Crime, if your Daughter knows & accepts the life that comes with it, Clothes, Shoes, Accessories, Holidays, Cars etc & you condone & do nothing, they are not INNOCENT! They are complicit. End
I don’t think most will understand the reality of this level of disorder…👀
The Cops dealing with it are the exact same Cops responding to 999 calls, who also have case files of existing crimes piled high. 🤯
The knock on effect to victims is honestly huge. 🤦🏼♂️

The people you are attacking with projectiles and firebombs have families waiting for them at home. Police officers are there to maintain peace and remain impartial. They are human beings.
We are better than this.
