@iputahexonyou I’ve been coming around to this too. The thing impacting me most honestly is delayed processing. I get a lot of what’s going on. Later. Thus the the pattern I’m seeing too as I piece together memories of a life pre dx.
@WlfInChpClthng @SNeurotypicals Oh I had one of those. Turns out professional dispassionate language somehow isn’t solving the problem? Idk what to do with that.
@errant82 I used to. Tried part tm post burnout. I can’t navigate the manipulation and double talk. It’s too confusing. I just say words and they mean the thing I said. That’s…apparently not how it’s done. Post dx I kinda just let it all go. Loved the job. Not the games.
'Emma Thompson's #Matilda fat suit is yet another reminder of how badly plus size people are treated by society,' argues @emmieehw

@noildoof@AlexRochonVA But you can’t tell. Hell, many of us ND people didn’t even know ourselves until later in life. Let people like what they like. How on earth does it hurt anyone? How is it different from rabid sports fans other than no riots after the BIG win? How is it different from any fandom?
@itsmyamygdala @baffled_hacker People only dislike “labels” if they dislike THAT label. The don’t say it about labels they think are good things to be. It’s about a lack of empathy. Control. They can’t experience it so they think it must not matter. Its privilege.
@onegirloneblog@hi_its_annaleah This. More people increases visibility. Like the gluten free trend increased options for celiac people. More people means less stigma. More clout in lobbying. There’s no real downside. Gatekeeping rarely serves a purpose.
for me, seeking a professional dx was something I felt I needed to do, for various reasons.
but I've also realized my motivations for undergoing the formal assessment process -includes- my serious distrust of myself & needing external validation. so now I have to unpack this 🫤
Being called mean for pointing out facts, for being concerned about my and OTHERS well-being, by asking for people to wear masks, is frankly, a load of crap.
@Autistic_Lia Usually yes because expectations and communication styles. But there’s always going to be people you don’t click with, just as lots of NTs don’t click with each other. And like my inattentive adhd might get overwhelmed by hyperactive adhd. Just ups the odds to share neurology.
@Truxillogical@elisekumar @Autistic_Lia Do you think that’s work or generally? I bet work-wise we’re all in overload most of the time. I think when we CAN have a conversation, the shared communication style helps. With more of us tho, the odds of someone being in overload at a given moment go up. Just my experience.
@WIRED on story linking health to cost of food (accurate) y mention autism in the first paragraph? R u insinuating autism is related to nutrition not genetics? This implication does harm.
Ps: I don’t have autism, I’m #actuallyautistic. #stopthestigma

The autistic urge to use 100 words to say something that that could be said in less than 10 words because you figure the extra 90 words of explanation will reduce the risk of misinterpretation and conflict.
