Wrapped up another successful summer session of research last week with my CRI students. They’ve done great work studying the diversity of phytoplankton found around coastal Santa Monica Bay! @SeaverLMU
My CRI summer research students are keeping busy! We’re sampling phytoplankton all along coastal Santa Monica Bay to observe trends in HAB species and community composition over time related to changing environmental conditions. @SeaverLMU
Wrapped up another successful semester of Costal Ecology lab with some amazing students. Today students presented research projects conducted throughout the semester —including studies of human influences on sea lions, beach trash, sea birds, and phytoplankton. @SeaverLMU
They’re at it again! My Coastal Ecology Lab spent the afternoon yesterday quantifying biodiversity and plastic pollution at a local beach, thinking about how these two very different measures might be used to characterize beach health. @SeaverLMU
My Coastal Ecology class went on an adventure to explore biodiversity in the rocky intertidal this week. Despite the chilly day everyone got to see new and exciting organisms! @SeaverLMU
My summer students have been keeping busy learning how to collect and identify phytoplankton samples! We are studying the ecology of HAB species in Santa Monica Bay with LMU’s Coastal Research Institute. @WorldOceansDay is every day around here! @SeaverLMU
