We are aware of an issue affecting the national 999 call system this morning. BT are working to resolve this as soon as possible. In a medical emergency, if you are unable to contact 999, please call 111.
1) #TheNHSisBroken What drs are reduced to during current extreme hospital pressures. From an anon doctor, a 🧵:
This wkend I have done things I have never done in my working life, now expected, it’s breaking me! My standard of care is being dropped to accommodate this fiasco
For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help.
I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).
Can everyone please stop calling ambulance clinicians………drivers.
They save lives and yes they aren’t all paramedics but they are not employed as drivers.
The media has an important responsibility this week……
If you're worried about ambulances responding to critical calls during the strike... they haven't been getting to them for 5 years or so. The crews are just taking the opportunity to point that out.
#AmbulanceStrikes
Please do not call us back to see how long that wait will be, we cannot answer this question, and this blocks the line for other calls trying to get through. These waits are being seen at hospitals too and going there by ambulance does not mean you will skip the queue❗
Feeling smug today for the 17 year old me who was told at school not to hold out hope for a university place, as I’ve passed my first year of postgrad study with a distinction mark 🥳🥳🥳 (take home message - don’t listen to those you do anything other than support you) 🤍🤍
Some days, coming home from work and straight into the fresh air with my best friend makes a horrific day feel that bit easier 🤍 no one can underestimate the daily emotional turmoil we are all experiencing, the burden is very heavy!
I think it’s so sad that we’re surrounded by many pre-hospital clinicians that will do everything they can to avoid speaking to GP’s on the phone regarding patients (including myself) because were fed up of the negative and derogatory attitude we are faced with.
Any tips on how to not turn a day of repetitive heavy decision making at work turn into an immense sense of imposter syndrome would be appreciated…. 3.5 years qualified and still can’t quite work that one out 🤔 (the question is; will it ever be any different?)
Daily Mail thinks NHS staff shouldn’t be allowed annual leave during the pandemic?!
Well, I’ve just had 2 weeks off
I got to see my kids faces light up at Christmas, bug my sisters & hug my parents
Working for the NHS is our job. Not our moral obligation.
We’re human too!

Bronchiolitis is everywhere.
Most of us find it pretty easy to identify infants with severe bronchiolitis.
What's harder is working out which infants with bronchiolitis are safe to send home, and which need to stay.
Here are my 5 top tips on managing bronchiolitis well: 🧵👇
