मागच्या वर्षी दिवाळीपूर्वी 32 हजार कोटींचं पॅकेज जाहीर झालं.. 27 हजार रुपये पर हेक्टरच्या घोषणा झाल्या… पण दिवाळीला फक्त 940/- मिळाले.

धायमोकलून रडतानाही डोळ्यातून थेंब खाली पडू दिला नाही म्हाताऱ्याने! इथे दुष्काळ जाणिवांचा आहे.. भावनेचा आहे.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has officially declared drought in 265 of Maharashtra’s 358 talukas - nearly 75% of the state.

And this is happening as Maharashtra aggressively expands its data-centre industry.

The state has attracted over $300 billion in investment interest for data centres and is targeting 5.7 GW of data-centre capacity by 2032.

Data centres require two critical resources: power and water. The amount of water they consume depends on the cooling technology used, but water requirement is an important consideration, particularly in water-stressed regions like Maharashtra.

The government is reportedly planning a system where municipal corporations treat sewage, MIDC further purifies it, and the reclaimed water is then sold to data centres and other industries.

But few crucial questions arise:

1. When nearly three-fourths of Maharashtra is officially under drought, what is the government’s plan to ensure that the state’s water resources are not diverted away from farmers and ordinary citizens to fuel this massive data-centre expansion?

2. In a state like Maharashtra - which has one of India’s highest farmer-suicide rates - who has the first right over water: farmers or data centres?

3. And if the state is prepared to set up a network to treat sewage and reclaim water for industry, why has no such urgency been shown in providing reliable reclaimed water for farmers - which could help reduce the distress driving farmer suicides?

For opposition:

Yes, elections are being rigged. But when you continue to participate in rigged elections, you legitimise these elections and help maintain the illusion that they are free and fair.

Maybe you keep contesting because you fear that if you don’t, you will stop existing. But what kind of existence are you trying to protect when votes are being stolen, your MLAs and MPs are being poached, and your parties are being split?

This is not political survival. You are simply trying to stay alive in a system that can weaken you, split your party or take away your elected representatives whenever it wants. How long can you survive like this?

And you cannot talk about election rigging only when it happens in states that matter to you and remain silent when it happens elsewhere. If elections are being rigged, it should matter regardless of the state or which party is affected.

You cannot keep saying the game is rigged while continuing to play it. Your participation is the only thing that gives these rigged elections legitimacy.

Think about the nation and its democracy before thinking about your own political survival. Take a stand and stop participating in rigged elections.
