90 y/o F on PO Vanco likes to pretend her Vanco is vodka so I mix her a “screwdriver” shot. She tosses it back, slams the medicine cup on the bedside table, looks me straight in the eyes and says, “hit me again.”
@In4maticsNurse @nurse_charming The bedside staff believe we have a lot of influence to enact change. We did too before we got into leadership. We understand how you feel more than you think. We’re just as exhausted as you. The bad ones are the exception.
@shifty_day I have one who has been spewing conspiracies nonstop since it started, they’re exhausting to work with. Sat them down last week and told them they are clearly traumatized and need to talk to a professional, they humbly accepted EAP.
What’s the best work outing you’ve been a part of?
Want to do something with my nursing team outside of the norm but struggling to come up with ideas.

@ATLmurse Same story here. In the beginning I took it a day at a time and kept reminding myself that it wouldn’t be forever.
Now it’s been almost a year and I wonder if it’ll ever be over and if I can keep doing this.
@AfibWithRiver Have to have two years experience. ANCC is easier than MSNCB. ANCC was mostly medsurg common sense mixed with fundamentals. If you’re good at testing don’t splurge on a review book, they’re overwhelming and make it seem harder than it is. Just do online review.
Not all nurse managers are great but we are all doing work that goes unseen. We often don’t have the kind of control over staffing nurses think we do and we are suffering in this dumpster fire with you. Please be kind. 7/7
Staffing is an issue at the forefront of most of our minds right now. There are a lot of stories about the tension it’s built between the nurses and management. Not everyone is a great manager but this is what a good nurse manager is doing for you during COVID: 1/7
Is as visible as possible. Staggering their hours so both day and night staff have an opportunity to vent to them behind closed doors. Shares their plans for improving staffing. 6/7
@mamawifeeRN I’m starting to get those “thank you for what you do” contacts. You’re welcome I guess (just like any other time) but please hust send food instead cause I’m forgetting to eat (just like any other time).

A large incidence of pneumonia with unknown etiology was reported to WHO in December and the COVID-19 strain identified and reported days later.
