This is the marks card of Anitha, a Dalit girl from Tamil Nadu's Ariyalur district who got 1176/1200 (98%) in her 12th standard but committed suicide after her fight against NEET failed after the Supreme Court dismissed her.

I have noticed many Dalit kids who score well in state exams doing badly in NEET. This shows the importance of coaching institutes for Dalit kids who cannot afford them. Can a tier 2, tier 3, or even a village kid dream of medicine?
I need to state that Tamil Nadu created this model where even those from rural areas and marginalized people can dream of a medical degree.

I was talking to one more girl from Mysore, she also scored well in state school exams, but failed to get a good rank in the NEET. She was shaken. I told her she could attempt the exam again and assured her that i would enroll her in a top coaching institute in Mysore.

Coaching institutes are a privilege. CBSE/ICSE is a privilege.

What we do not understand is that most of the SC/ST kids go to state schools since they cannot afford CBSE/ICSE schools.

When there is no weight for the school marks and only dependence on NEET exams, marks tilt the game in favor of the privileged.

I remember one professor from IIMs, what NEET has done to SC, ST, and OBC students in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, all toppers in the 100 rank were from SC, ST, and OBCs because of good marks in the 12th exam. But today, these numbers have come down because of the NEET exam. The professor was feeling proud that now more general candidates are getting in and true merit is being brought back.

NEET is way of reestabilishing the Merit narrative again and again. This has happened with IIT-JEE earlier.

IIT-JEE questions were made tougher and tougher every year. I remember that many kids started studying russian books and degree level books to crack IITs. This artificial division of merit was created to show that SC/ST cannot compete. The same thing is happening at NEET.

There should be atleast one change. The factors of selection should be multiple,
(1) 12th standard marks.: 50%
(2) Background: rural or urban
(3) Study of school: - STATE/CBSE/ICSE
(4) Govt or Non Govt

We are making the biggest mistake of thinking that the educational outcomes of State and CBSE/ICSE are same. This anamoly is the biggest problem in NEET.

I don't know how to solve this. But kids from state schools getting good marks should find their way...

Or else the government should set up Bhim Medical Colleges only for state schools and Dalit kids...

SC/ST/OBC representation in Delhi's Elite School is near to Nil.
Even in government run Sanskriti School, the representation is as follows:
OBC - 1.37%
SC - 2.7%
ST - 0.72%

How Elite and Privileged structure avoid SC/ST/OBC students can be easily understood by this?

Most of the SC/ST/OBC kids study in tier 2 schools or government schools.

But you know what makes them successful.

The Hunger for Success...

The risk of not succeeding...

They know that there success is important for their families.

They take all the insults, get humilated and build themselves slowly.

When everyone sees an underdog in him, Dr Ambedkar saw a winner in him..

He knew that let us give him a small chance through reservation.

Today, when I see our kids topping the AIIMS medical exams, I can only say that Dr Ambedkar was correct. If given the access, our kids will surely be on top.

Im no great fan of these fancy elite schools.

But the fact that even government schools discriminate against SC,ST,OBC is clearly emerging from the data.

@Ashok_Kashmir इनको अपने NGO का FCRA रजिस्ट्रेशन चालू करवाना है। अब ऐसा नहीं करेंगे फिर से कुछ करेंगे तो नहीं हो पाएगा न । और वैसे भी सरकार NGO's के फंडिंग पे लगाम लगाने के लिए फॉरेन फंडिंग रेगुलेशन एक्ट में संशोधन पे संशोधन किए जा रही है।
