Our heartfelt condolences to the Superior General and all the Sisters of our Lady of Good Counsel on the sudden and tragic loss of Sr. Mary Goreth Tugumenawe Kenda (1967-2026) who died in a motor accident earlier today.

Sr. Mary Goreth served a teacher at San Giovanni School Makiro, St. Mary's College Rushoroza and St. Theresa Girls' Vocational Secondary School Rushoroza where she served as Head teacher from 2016-2022.

She was also one of the choir conductors when Kabale Diocese animated Uganda Martyrs Day at Namugongo in 2009.

Sr. Mary Goreth will be laid to rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Kyabirukwa Mother House in Isingiro. May her soul rest in peace. 🕊️

The Caravan Torch was handed over from Nyabwina Parish to Kyamwiru Parish.

WATCH: Government has been urged to extend specialised treatment to lower health units to help patients in rural areas struggling with the existing healthcare gap. Chris Gumisiriza, the chairperson of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA), said that although government has improved health facilities across Uganda, there is still a lack of sufficient human resources. Stakeholders also noted that many hospitals lack adequate facilities to handle cases such as cancer, fistula and TB. The remarks were made ahead of the 12th Health Socio-Economic AMDA Outreach targeting vulnerable and impoverished communities in Kigezi this Friday.
