On this day in 1977, the Grateful Dead delivered a legendary performance at Cornell University's Barton Hall, a show so iconic it became one of the Dead’s most collected, traded, and downloaded concerts by any band ever, according to Blair Jackson. It was also later preserved by the Library of Congress. Declared "Grateful Dead Day" in Ithaca, New York, the concert is celebrated for its transcendental energy and has become a cornerstone in Dead Head lore.
