So, mom was released yesterday with only the standard restriction post cardiac arrest. No driving for six months. I’m betting she tries to cheat. She’s a fucking beast. We are incredibly lucky. Now to deal with her major risk factor. Living with my dad.

Almost a week go my mom had a major, out of hospital, cardiac arrest. She was put through a hypothermia protocol to help her brain, and she woke up, early, and still cold. The chance of waking up is like 10%. Outcome like hers is 3%. She’s doing amazing, but has memory issues.

I mean, she’s no 10 second Tom, but there are incredibly few resources for her situation. Everything is all “well, thank god your loved one is alive, k.thx.bai…”, and there isn’t much to help with her situation. So, why not use one of my favorite rom coms for help.

She’s still sharp & a force, but has short term issues. It went from maybe 3-5 minutes of recall to now resetting some every night. So I’m taking a page from 50 First Dates, and we’re creating a memory book to help her. Thanks @DrewBarrymoreTV & @AdamSandler for the idea.

I have been working on an utter nightmare of an issue at work for over six months. We have now stumped multiple engineers. I am not used to this, so I am countering my feelings of ineptitude with manual labor. Today was fixing my wheelbarrow then using it to move heavy things.

@matt_zaske Yes! It shouldn’t all be on the one guy in your org who isn’t scared of them (my husband). He is sick of owning it alone. I then share his pain.

Replaced the SSL cert on a public-facing camera and was as uneventful as one might hope (esp. considering it can't be automated).

Certs don't have to be scary, and you shouldn't have to dread every interaction w/ their mgmt. Start small, try other stuff to become more familiar.
