What she did is out of character for women. That's why it drew the attention and reaction it did from fellow students. Men are hornballs, women are the gatekeepers. This is the case with almost every species: the male has to prove himself before he can mate with the female. When the female just flings open the gates and makes the choices she made, it creates a very unnatural situation that leads to shame and regret. Trying to change men is futile. Just mind the gate.
