But the course correction happened when Gill was out of runs, regardless of whatever strike rate he was batting at. Had he been scoring runs while anchoring, he would’ve still kept his place in the side. So Gill was always in the plans until he went out of runs. The moment you’re out of runs, you get replaced. It happened with Sanju in the England series & he was then replaced by Gill up the order for the Asia Cup.
