2016 Barolo - 95 Points

The Schiavenza winery has been operating in the Serralunga d’Alba area since 1956.

The business was started by the brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria and is now managed by the son-in-law Luciano Pira.

Another new release offered today which caught my eye is the 2018 Sena.

This project, created in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi has been going from strength to strength in the very capable hands of winemaker Francisco Baettig.

The 2016 vintage was exceptional with perfect growing conditions. It was characterized by a late harvest with no real shock events to speak of.
