BREAKING: President Trump announces Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first phase of his Gaza peace plan, marking a potential breakthrough in the two-year conflict.

In statements posted at 6:51 PM ET, Trump declared that “all of the hostages will be released very soon” and Israel will withdraw troops to an agreed-upon line. The 48 remaining Israeli hostages would be released in exchange for 250 Palestinian prisoners with life sentences and 1,700 Palestinians detained since October 2023.

The breakthrough comes after eight days of talks in Egypt. This represents the first mutual sign-off after weeks of conditional agreements.

Market implications: Israel-Gaza ceasefire announcements have historically triggered oil price declines of -6% to -7% as Middle East supply fears ease. The S&P 500 gained +1.1% following the June 2025 Iran-Israel ceasefire.
