#Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei was pressed on why Iran attacked Qatar’s gas field, which is not an American military installation, contradicting the Iranian claim it only targets U.S. interests in the Gulf.

Baqaei claimed the attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City was a "retaliatory act in self-defence on infrastructure shared by the United States," after Israel and U.S. attacked South Pars Gas field.

@qatarenergy said damages caused by Iranian missile attacks on Ras Laffan Industrial City could cost up to $20 billion annually in lost revenue, with repairs expected to take three to five years. Qatar’s Energy Minister and QatarEnergy CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi warned that the damage to LNG facilities will disrupt supplies to key markets including China, South Korea, Italy and Belgium, forcing the company to declare force majeure on some long-term contracts for up to five years.
