La fuerte injerencia de la UEFA en la reelección de Gianni Infantino levanta enormes sospechas sobre el arbitraje de la final del Mundial. El presidente del organismo europeo, el esloveno Aleksander Čeferin, metió por escritorio al árbitro Slavko Vinčić, también esloveno y amigo suyo, para dirigir el partido más importante del torneo.

El escándalo es todavía mayor: los dos jueces de línea elegidos para acompañar a Vinčić, Tomaž Klančnik y Andraž Kovačič, también son eslovenos. Es decir, la FIFA puso la final completamente en manos de una terna arbitral del mismo país que el presidente de la UEFA.

Además, bajo la presidencia de Čeferin, la UEFA ya había premiado a Vinčić con las finales de la Europa League 2022 y de la Champions League 2024 entre Real Madrid y Borussia Dortmund. En aquella definición europea también estuvo acompañado por Klančnik y Kovačič.
