Delhi’s Satya Niketan does not have a double-engine or a triple-engine BJP sarkar. It has a TEN-ENGINE BJP sarkar!

And yet, the blame-game is on. Blame the Congress. Blame the AAP. If any lapses are found from previous governments, prosecute those responsible. But it just so happens, a 10 layer governance structure belongs to the BJP today. Some, like MCD, with it since 20+ years! How many more engines for Delhi to become Venice, or Tokyo, or Kyoto? For our students to not lose their lives or live like cockroaches?

Hence, questions will be asked of the BJP. Minister Ashish Sood needs to be held accountable.

Delhi sits in Seismic Zone IV, the second-highest earthquake-risk category in India. One major earthquake could turn into a catastrophe, given how recklessly buildings are constructed with safety norms and regulations being openly violated.

And yesterday exposed an even bigger failure. Our disaster-response system struggled to rescue people from one collapsed building.

If this is our preparedness for one building collapse, what happens when hundreds come down at once?

Delhi needs an immediate audit of all vulnerable buildings, enforce safety norms without exception and review the city’s disaster-response preparedness. Accountability cannot begin after people are buried under the rubble.
