“Judges are trained professionals who take an oath to act impartially. Therefore, it is not permissible to presume that a person, once appointed as a judge, will act with bias or fail to do justice.”
— Supreme Court in Anna Mathew v. SC Collegium & Ors. W.P. (C) No. 192 of 2023.
Courtroom linguistics is a genre of its own!😂
In recent years, junior lawyers entering the profession have started listing “video editing” as one of their skills on their resumes. How exactly this skill assists in arguing a matter is incomprehensible to me. 🙄
My warning to you: You can edit videos; you cannot edit reality.
If our language does not clearly explain what we mean and quietly protect where we stand, it ends up doing the opposite. In moments like these, the real failure is not that we spoke at all, but that we did not think through the consequences of our own speech.
Whenever we choose to speak, we should pause and examine our own words. We should ask ourselves whether what we are about to say actually strengthens our position, or whether it quietly dismantles it without us realizing?
Words spoken without enough care, without precision or foresight, rarely stay neutral. They'll travel, get reshaped, and will be easily misunderstood and weaponized against us.

This video is for all those supporters who risk their careers and lives for such leaders 🙌
To all my learned friends at the Bar, men and women who have penned the chapters of their lives with struggle, perseverance, and tears discreetly hidden behind the curtain of professional dignity, I extend my heartfelt felicitations on this Advocate’s Day.
