Yeast Protein – the TRUTH.

Contrary to recent claims, the Yeast Protein currently used by Indian nutraceutical brands has not been “invented” in India.

Yeast Powder (approx 60% crude protein) is produced by one Indian company, which has been manufacturing it for well over a year or two, possibly longer. This material is primarily exported to an Israeli company. The Indian manufacturer is a listed entity.

Yeast Protein Isolate is manufactured in China by a Chinese company. It is imported into India and distributed by multiple distributors. This is the variant currently used in most yeast-based protein formulations sold as D2C products in India.

Yeast protein has been, incorrectly, positioned as having a PDCAAS of 1. Based on our initial review of yeast protein isolate, the standalone yeast protein does not achieve a PDCAAS of 1.

Although, a pea + yeast protein 'blend' can deliver a PDCAAS of 1.

There is nothing proprietary about this ingredient or its use in the market.
