So when you hear we have a pandemic of the unvaccinated
Yes that includes kids
But largely only in unvaccinated communities
Very few kids in highly vaccinated places are getting sick
So if you want to protect unvaccinated kids
Make sure everyone around them has the shot
Fin
Milestone Monday just in: Today we hit 70% of adults w/ at least one dose! +468K doses reported administered, incl. 320K newly vaccinated (vs. 257K last Monday). 7-day average of newly vaccinated highest since July 4. Let's continue working to get more eligible vaccinated! 🇺🇸
A simple, *hypothetical* example of the Base Rate Fallacy:
Suppose w/o a vaccine, 9/10 get hospitalized
Suppose w/ a vaccine 1/10 get hospitalized
(Note: a very good vaccine!)
Suppose 90/100 get the vaccine
What share of the hospitalized are vaccinated?
This is so important.
Imagine 100 people at an event, 90 of them vaccinated and 10 unvaccinated.
50% of the unvaccinated people get infected – that’s 5 people.
10% of the vaccinated people get infected – that’s 9 people.
The vaccine is still working really well.
What more do you need to see? 97% of new hospital admissions and 99.5% of deaths in the US are unvaccinated.
You can get Delta if you are vaxxed, for sure, but you are probably not going to suffer as much as you would otherwise.
NEW: We reviewed state data on breakthrough events. Take home: these are extremely rare. Among states w/data, >9 in 10 cases, hospitalizations, deaths were among those unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated. w/@LindseyH_Dawson@Emma__Anderson@annarouw@joshmich@_nataliesinger
I know I sound like a broken record
But here's the thing
The vaccines are largely working as expected
We had an outbreak in P-town with lots of vaccinated folks infected
No one died. Very few got sick
And things have returned to normal
This is how vaccines work folks
New:
Breakthrough COVID-19 hospitalizations among vaccinated people will inevitably rise as the number of vaccinated people grows.
But, the overwhelming share of hospitalizations across states are among unvaccinated people.
Because, the vaccines work.

Vaccinated people are far far far less likely to spread the virus than unvaccinated people
Like way less likely
A lot less
Pretty clear from the data we have so far
That's my Friday thought
Today’s Anniversary of Medicare & Medicaid reminds us to reflect on the critical role these programs have played to protect the healthcare of millions of families. To safeguard our future, we must reject Socialist healthcare schemes.
As more employers require COVID-19 vaccination, they might also consider offering paid time off for workers to get vaccinated and recover from any side effects.
FAUCI: "99.5 percent of the deaths, in the United States, are among unvaccinated people, and 0.5 percent are among vaccinated people. Boy, if there ever was a statistic that would stimulate someone to get vaccinated, I think this one is it."
