@WorkElizab Just sand paper and varnish it. It will pop out. I agree with your hubby. Some pieces are better of in their original form. Kinda looks 'out of place' amid it's surroundings. Had it been standing alone or with similar smaller pieces, you wouldn't feel the need to paint it.
