@ImCaptainBrian You say theyre not getting kicked out, but this is the first year I had ever seen police around the area like that. Especially with people selling liqour. There was too much attention at the westin, so it's possible there may be enforcement next year
@ImCaptainBrian Of course more people would learn about it and grow, but to have more games and people interested in learning. Mahjong night has been going around for years, so who's to say the westin crowd had to claim mahjong night and could've been anywhere else as well?
all they saw was an opportunity to take over something established and act like it's one big thing. there is no restriction on public space, but holy fuck dont associate your weird antics with the people who actually kept the whole thing running. none of them wanted all of this
people who dont even know where midnight mahjong grew from and criticizing what it was this year. It was never was an after party. It was just friends and mutual hanging out for jong/idols. it was ruined all because degens and attention seekers learned about it.
@Lazorgunn I was actually talking to my friend about how it should move here too. Now that Figueroa is closed off, ỉt allows the intersection to be open to pedestrians and is more than enough space for people who are actually there for mahjong. Good lighting too
midnight mahjong is cooked. genuine shame people used it to take over and make it to what it was like this year. ty to the people I got to connect with over the handful of years and the many nights I looked forward to during ax, even though I practically dont exist anywhere
@randall_kznr thank you for all the past years and allowing a lot of the tight community have something to attend. Truly unfortunate it was taken over and isnt about friends being able to just hang out
@saccharino I thought they were having a meeting for security enforcing or overseeing the con for the following day. Madness is crazy when it was contained on the sidewalk and steps
