@DouglasPollitt@VanmalaS How many of them are part-time by choice? Cutting hours is a budget solution in many cases, so $39,000 is what they’re left with, regardless of hourly rate.
It’s shocking to me that we’ve got MPPs in power here in Ontario that think they deserve the $16,000 raise they gave themselves earlier this year but don’t think CUPE education workers deserve a raise of just $3.25 per hour so they can afford to put food on the table.
Lots of great attention in the media all day long - esp @CBC - on Ford's anti-democratic, anti-worker, anti-union overreach today.
This is an unforced political error. They will seek an exit and rescind the legislation before Friday if pressured.
Keep. The pressure. On! #OntEd
Doug Ford & Stephen Lecce acting like they care about children remaining in class this Friday is next level gaslighting. Invoking the notwithstanding clause for this is such abuse of power & should be condemned nationally, then investigated. I stand with education workers #onted
I am not an Ontarian, or a teacher, or an education assistant, but I have a perspective on the Ford government’s “Keeping Students in Schools Act”. I was Minister of Education in Alberta for 7 years, including the time the Charter was developed and enacted. #onted#onpoli
We’re still in the legislature 13.5 hours after starting at 5am today.
To all the education workers protesting outside Queen’s Park - we can hear you in the chamber. Keep it up!!! 💪🏼
#onpoli#onted
interesting to see Ontario's education minister complain that 80 cents of every dollar spent on education goes to pay and benefits
this is also true of policing
a full-time OPP officer who finishes training makes $75,000/yr
a full-time education worker makes $49,000/yr
As I journey towards wrapping up my career and this leadership cohort, I can’t tell you what a privilege it has been to support the leadership development of 168 library leaders these past 14 years! Libraries are in good hands!
🧵 Don’t tell me @JustinTrudeau has caused division over vaccines.
When we were kids, we all just lined up and got our shots. There was social unity, despite political differences.
We beat polio, whooping cough, smallpox, diphtheria and all kinds of other diseases that way. …
I've been studying the BC COVID seroprevalence study, co-authored by Bonnie Henry, who until recently had insisted that schools were safe. And now we know that most children (more than adults) have been infected.
It's presented as good news: robust "hybrid immunity!!"

This is a really important read! Listening and deep presence is so crucial to effective leadership. Why the Best Leaders Get Quiet https://t.co/pAY4GLkpkd
@DFisman This…over and over again this👇
“The greatest concern was regarding the weaponization of children's mental health, exploited in an ideological battle by those who viewed any restriction on individual liberty as an unacceptable attack on their freedom”
