Excited to share the first preprint from my postdoc, with @YingYu45862779@huBoyaci@KatjaDoerschner
Using dynamic line drawings, we show that contour motion alone can provide sufficient information for material perception.

Glad to share our EEG study now is out in JNP. 🎉 We showed that alpha rhythms automatically interpolate occluded motion based on the surrounding contextual cues! 🚶♂️🏞️ @DKaiserlab@maxbardelang

Thrilled to share our new findings on material timing, combining my interests in affective touch, material perception, and timing! Our temporal bisection experiment shows that pleasant materials extend perceived duration compared to neutral ones.

Here's the official advertisement for a PhD position in our lab: https://t.co/Wpz6UPsHDn
Please see below for context. If you're interested in applying, feel free to get in touch beforehand - happy to informally answer and questions you may have.
Feel free to forward, too!
Excited to share our new paper.

Title:
Balance recovery and its link to vestibular agnosia in traumatic brain injury: a longitudinal behavioural and neuro-imaging study
Details below.
Dear friends,
We are asking for help to pursue the best possible care for Sara. If you can’t donate but still want to help, please consider sharing our campaign on any channel.
Merry Christmas, from Sara, Guido, and the rest of the Hawkins clan.

Is V1 fMRI activity primarily driven by induced lightness or is it a confounding effect of border contrast variations?
Our findings show that after controlling for long-range responses to contrast and luminance variations, fMRI responses in V1 correlate with lightness induction.
Amna Malik @AmnaMal20207663 & Huseyin Boyaci use fMRI to investigate neural correlates of dynamic lightness Induction and provide further evidence that the primary visual cortex (V1) is involved in context-dependent lightness processing: https://t.co/VsCLHHbwKl.
Excited for the Material Perception session at #ECVP2024. I'll present our first findings on unpleasant touch. Looking forward to great discussions!
Also, looking forward to all the amazing talks and meeting friends!

Interesting talk by Amna Malik looking at how ratings of material properties relate within and across different dynamic depictions of materials, including dot motion and line drawings. Beautiful and highly realistic renders of materials!
