The interactive menu for the Newgrounds Dreamcast Collab is out. I did the menu art and programming, so please check it out!
There's also a separate native Dreamcast version of this collab made by @montroseis and @gtrevorjay that's really high effort.
@kadeem_kusaragi There are a few steps:
- Create an empty object as the hair's origin.
- Get camera space distance between empty and hair geo, omitting the Z axis.
- Use this as a mask by multiplying it to hair lighting dot product.
From there you scale until it looks cool and apply color.
Making this felt like a training arc, but Deku's finally done! First model of 2021, and hopefully a lot more soon.
(also a new manga chapter today?)

@gtrevorjay@montroseis First thing I do when I eventually get a Dreamcast is try the native version you guys did. The idea of doing a collab on a console is still crazy to me.
@chilichapters @tufokyo It's basically a matcap but you calculate cone shaped normals from the center.
Also great job @tufokyo :D
If only we could print these, lol
@SadlyItsBradley To be fair, Link is always going to be weird to some extent. I think it's probably two fold, on Oculus' side and AMD's side, judging by my past experiences.
nofio save us all
@DmawDev Yeah. It stands out pretty well.
This image makes me realize how painfully noisy most game thumbnails are, to the point where they blend in like packaging on a grocery store.
