Excited about our #EADMSummerSchool24 on Large Language Models (LLMs) in Behavioural Science!
⏰ Application deadline is less than a month away (March 17th)
Besides the magic of Berlin in late summer, you’d get:
There’s growing evidence that LLM outputs reflect their builders’ values.
But who are these builders, and how do their preferences and values compare to LLM users'?
Our results highlight the need for greater demographic and ideological diversity in the AI workforce – but also the need for more research linking builder preferences to AI system behaviour.
Do AI builders hold different values from AI users? We show that AI builders and men are more utilitarian and less supportive of pro-diversity outputs, highlighting ongoing concerns about workforce diversity and whose values are shaping AI.

⚡Thrilled to announce the talk by Prof. Melanie Mitchell @MelMitchell1 on "The Debate over Understanding in AI’s Large Language Models"! Discuss AI complexities with the author of "Artificial Intelligence: A Guide for Thinking Humans" at our #EADMSummerSchool2024
New paper:
Toward human-centered AI management: Methodological challenges and future directions

A brief thread 🧵
We're grateful to @EADM_1993, @Max_Planck_CHM, and @arc_mpib for supporting us in bringing together Early Career Researchers and in -- hopefully -- facilitating the responsible and open use of LLMs in the behavioural sciences!

Join us in exploring how behavioral scientists can leverage large language models for research and study and address the ethical, cultural, and societal challenges arising from their mass adoption during our EADM Summer School at the @mpib_berlin in Berlin, 9th-13th September!
New Paper: "Machine Culture"
https://t.co/OyQ9F08bvo
AI systems are increasingly integrated into the human cultural fabric. What can we learn from human cultural evolution to anticipate the impact of intelligent machines on culture (socially transmitted information)? [1/9]
Thanks, @SZ, for covering our recent pre-print on the third-party effect of AI-mediated communication use: https://t.co/SA0rjQtGVw
In short, people believe others will use AI irresponsibly, they themselves will use it responsibly, though.
