TAX AUDIT DEADLINE EXTENSION — NOT JUST A PROFESSIONAL DEMAND, BUT A SOCIAL CAUSE
The demand to extend the Tax Audit due date to 31st October permanently is not merely about giving Chartered Accountants more time.
It is about creating a realistic compliance framework that protects the quality of audits, the well-being of professionals and the larger public interest.
THE PROFESSIONAL CAUSE:
A Tax Audit is not a mechanical exercise of filling forms.
It involves examination of books and records, verification of documents, reconciliations, analysis of tax provisions, identification of discrepancies, preparation of reports and professional review before the report is finally signed.
Trying to complete this entire process within an extremely compressed period can create unnecessary pressure and increase the risk of inadvertent errors, incomplete verification and compromised professional review.
Quality audit requires time. Professional judgement cannot be rushed.
THE HUMAN CAUSE:
Behind every Tax Audit is a professional and a team of people working long hours to meet the statutory deadline.
Late nights, extended working hours and continuous deadline pressure affect the health, family life and overall well-being of professionals and their teams.
Compliance should not come at the cost of professional well-being and sustainable working conditions.
THE SOCIAL & PUBLIC-INTEREST CAUSE:
The quality of a Tax Audit ultimately affects more than the Chartered Accountant.
It contributes to accurate financial reporting, correct tax compliance and a more reliable tax administration system.
A rushed audit may satisfy a date on the calendar, but a properly performed audit serves the larger objective of accuracy, transparency and compliance.
THE REAL OBJECTIVE:
This is not a demand for less compliance.
It is a demand for adequate time to achieve better compliance.
Adequate Time → Better Verification → Better Audit → Better Compliance
An extension to 31st October would provide a more practical and sustainable timeline for completing Tax Audits with the care and professional diligence they deserve.
EVERY DAY COUNTS.
Every day without a decision means less time for proper verification, review and quality.
🙏 EXTEND THE TAX AUDIT DUE DATE TO 31ST OCTOBER — PERMANENTLY.
NOT LESS COMPLIANCE.
NOT LESS ACCOUNTABILITY.
JUST MORE TIME FOR QUALITY.
📢 This is a professional cause.
This is a human cause.
This is a public-interest cause.

On behalf of Tamil Nadu BJP Professional Cell, we have submitted a representation to Hon'ble FM Smt. @nsitharaman avl & Chairman, CBDT @incometaxIndia seeking a one-time extension of due date for furnishing Tax Audit Reports (Form 3CA/3CB + 3CD) for AY 2026-27 from 30th Sep 2026 to 31st Oct 2026.
> The request is due to enhanced MSME & GST-related disclosures requiring extensive reconciliation, to ensure quality & accurate compliance - not relaxation of compliance. (1/2)

If the CBDT @IncomeTaxIndia remains silent, then who will hear the genuine concerns of tax professionals and taxpayers?
We need clarity, not silence. Extend the Tax Audit deadline from 30 September to 31 October 2026.
#ExtendTaxAuditDueDate#Extendtaxaudit
If the date is extended today or tomorrow, full credit should go to the Rajasthan Association for taking the first legal step and filing the writ.
They took the matter to the court when it mattered. That contribution should not be forgotten.

CBDT, just one request on Tax Audit:
No extension? Say it clearly and hold your ground.
Extension? Give it now, not at midnight on the 30th.
Uncertainty is costing more than the deadline itself.

#ExtendTaxAuditDueDateWorking 16-hour days, facing UDIN portal glitches and racing against a 1-month audit deadline is taking a heavy toll on the mental and physical health of tax practitioners. Compliance shouldn't come at the cost of health. Hear our voice,@IncomeTaxIndia
Tomorrow is the deciding day.
Whatever happens, let’s remember the support given by our elected ICAI representatives.
Oh wait… which support? 🙂

Every year, the same story: requests in August, trending in September, relief at midnight. Why not fix the calendar permanently, @IncomeTaxIndia? A 2-month gap between ITR and Tax Audit dates would end this yearly drama 🙏 #ExtendTaxAuditDueDate#ExtendTaxAuditdate
