Alice Kaboyo: This time, we are requesting the government to provide UGX 8 billion to help resolve some outstanding issues. UGX 8 billion is not too much to ask for if it will help solve these problems.

In 1994 I was done with my A-Level exam and my dad who was in the US at the time wanted me to join him there to start life. So he used the World Cup as the entry point. When I went to the embassy, which was in the same building where the ministry of ICT is sharing the building with the British High Commission at the time on parliament Avenue, the consular told me that I had not proved that I had enough ties here to go and come back to Uganda. I was devastated because the truth was there was no plan to come back here at all. 😂😂😂😂 I have since been to the US twice and back.
I am extremely glad that they never said yes to my request at the time.
I guess I need to go to the US for a week soon.
I will repeat it, @kasujja you are doing an exceptional job. It’s now clear that those before you never fully appreciated the true mandate of the Media Centre. Your work alone justifies a 100% budget increase because we have ignored this institution for far too long.
What you’re doing is a genuine reflection of who we are as a country. A large percentage of Ugandans may never have even heard someone confidently speak Lugbara. You’re changing that. You’re making people feel seen, included, and more patriotic. I don’t think we even made this kind of messaging during COVID-19.
This is what national communication should look like. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
