ON Suliman Carrim:

Mathew Chaskalson reminded commissioners that three weeks ago, Carrim wasn't present.

A notice was received on June 17. Chaskalson says they didn't get an affidavit responding to questions by the commission.

Chaskalson says they are waiting for financial statements from Ziggy, Tasmika, and Tamiez companies belonging to Carrim.

He says the companies have been receiving millions of rands.

Chaskalson says the medical note doesn't state if he can't respond. Chaskalson says there's an excuse not to appear but not to answer.

Chaskalson says they received whistleblower reports stating Carrim arrived at a shopping center, went into Woolworths, and then went to have lunch. Chaskalson says they believe Carrim is taking liberties with the commission. A subpoena will be issued to medical doctors treating Carrim. Chaskalson says the matter should be stood down until Friday morning.

Chaskalson says the postponement application must address the dates Carrim was admitted, consultations, his travel movements, and social gatherings. Commissioner Khumalo says he wants to know if Carrim flew from North West to Cape Town or drove there.
