PLO LUMUMBA ON UGANDA’S LGBTQ LAW
Why is the West so upset by Uganda’s strict gay law? PLO Lumumba points out that Arab dictatorships never get this sort of condemnation for their equally harsh, if not harsher, policies. In this clip, he sides with Uganda and its people, arguing the furore over the law distracts from more pressing issues - such as poverty and hunger.
His remarks came ahead of the 10th anniversary celebrations of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters opposition party. The EFF has condemned Uganda’s law but also invited Lumumba to give a talk at its bash at the University of Cape Town. This led to unrest after some of those opposed to his presence clashed with other party supporters. The man himself sees no contradiction, saying that dialogue with those you don’t see eye to eye with is healthy.
