@maddow Love you but am very disappointed re: comments on Dr. Conley-emphasizing he's an "osteopath" (DO) as if that makes him less qualified. I'm one, too. I completely disagree w/him, but he's a qualified ER Dr. Please reconsider comments that seem to disparage our profession.
Teaching about careers? Pre-meds need to know there is a great alternative to becoming an MD. Have them read the short, light-hearted Osteopathy & the Zombie Apocalypse to broaden their horizons! (Bottom of Page) - https://t.co/vnEXZ1WGCw #Careers#premed#BackToSchool#TEACHers
Even though #OsteopathicManipulativeMedicine can help restore autonomic tone, improve circulation & immune response, and restore physiologic function, it is underused in the inpatient setting for these conditions: https://t.co/AIiH316zth @StonyBrookSHH @MaineMed@AACOMmunities
@TheJAOA @StonyBrookSHH @MaineMed@AACOMmunities As a daily practitioner of OMM and Osteopathic Principles & Practice, I thank you for bringing this study to public attention.
Just had a pharmacist refuse to fill Suboxone prescription for pregnant patient because I wrote for qid (I just spoke at ASAM on this subject-how some need split dosing in pregnancy). When I tried to explain my credentials, he became belligerent and hung up on me 😡@cvspharmacy
I'm very much in support of the use of marijuana/CBD, medicinally. They've helped many of my patients get off #opioids which are far more dangerous. This study, done by osteopathic doctors, is eye-opening for MMJ users needing a procedure under anesthesia: https://t.co/db8LwfltpK
@arosteopathic@AOAforDOs That's GREAT. Unfortunately, I've been a DO 30+ years, yet I can barely tell the difference between most MDs & DOs, anymore. I often feel like a dinosaur, one of the last holdouts truly living the principles we were taught, still using my mind, ❤️ AND 🙌. PLEASE prove me wrong.
@AOAforDOs I'm SOOO proud to be a DO. Read my books on Amazon or my article on Linkedin with over 15,000 views & you'll KNOW what it means to ME. I'm just so sad that in the 30+ years I've been a DO, I've seen our principles drowned in drugs & our gifted hands & heritage shunted aside.
The President is inciting violence against a sitting Congresswoman—and an entire group of Americans based on their religion. It's disgusting. It's shameful. And any elected leader who refuses to condemn it shares responsibility for it.
Interesting reason for down-rating a FREE 5-STAR BOOK: "would've loved to learn more about curing body pain permanently & w/out surgeries, & would've left 5 stars..." but the privacy policy for getting even MORE free info was too broad.😕 https://t.co/msOE2z5cWw Policy's fixed.
I just found out my book, Osteopathy & the Zombie Apocalypse - a Career Guide has a 4.22⭐rating on GoodReads! It has 4.7 ⭐on Amazon! And yes, it IS silly - & very worthwhile for #premed students https://t.co/3ClPHGoThs
10. "Practice Excellence & Empathy ... If you can really empathize, you connect. In any enterprise, this connection, coupled with striving for excellence and integrity, is a powerful formula for thriving." M. Cohn, DO, as quoted in INC - https://t.co/dMGeCGAYmu
@tal7291 Lots of truth in that. We also have simple, strangely old-fashion exam techniques-like palpating tendons, ligaments, peripheral nerves, dorsal root ganglia, etc. which tell us where to start. Doctors don't do this, anymore & few would understand the significance of such findings.
@tal7291 1/2 Although the claims are completely disingenuous & those making them have no clue how to cure "treat or cure chronic intractable pain," We DO HAVE such treatments & cures for much pain which originated from mechanical injuries- up to 80% of chronic intractable pain. They're
Interesting. I was not aware of this. If accurate, it bears rethinking by virtually everyone who holds opinions, especially those in all 3 religions who hold negative opinions of the others. It doesn't change history, but it could change perceptions.
Oh for God's sake! I'm not an opioid advocate. I virtually never prescribe them. I also lean socially liberal, so consider these facts when I say this legislation is misguided, based on poor knowledge, and meant NOT TO SAVE LIVES, but to appeal to a broadly misinformed populace.
Senators Gillibrand And Gardner Announce Bipartisan Legislation To Combat Opioid Crisis By Limiting Prescriptions To Seven Days https://t.co/0Ktw28fnTU
I agree. But, most of all, we need people to understand so much pain & suffering could be abated if physicians only knew how to actually diagnose & treat the causes of up to 80% of pain.
Oh, wait - Some of us do. It's just that the rest won't listen. #chronicpain#CureMemovement
