Spoke Up for a Patient, Doctor Got Slapped Instead at Gandhi Hospital.!!
On Sunday evening, Dr. Shiva Shankar was managing the IMC ward at Gandhi Hospital. When he went to check on a patient Queeni Daniel whose sugar levels had spiked, he found the attender, Mounica Merlin, engrossed in a video call.
Dr. Shiva tried to brief her about the patientโs condition. He spoke to her repeatedly - four separate times - attempting to give vital details regarding the treatment.
Recognizing that the ongoing call was actively interfering with his ability to deliver proper medical care and creating a disruption in the intensive hospital ward environment, Dr. Shiva made a straightforward, professional request: he asked her to stop the video call.
Instead of hanging up, Mounica Merlin turned on the doctor, launching into a stream of abusive and filthy language. She raised her phone, turned the camera toward him, and began recording video of the encounter.
When Dr. Shiva reached out to take the phone to prevent her from recording him and further disrupting the ward, the situation turned violent.
She lunged forward, slapping the doctor across the face. The physical assault escalated rapidly. During the scuffle, Dr. Shivaโs spectacles were knocked off and broken, and he sustained injuries to his forehead. When he attempted to restrain her by the wrists to protect himself and halt the attack, she continued to hurl verbal abuse.
The commotion drew the attention of other duty doctors and hospital staff, who rushed over to intervene and de-escalate the situation.
Rather than backing down, she began scolding and shouting at the arriving medical staff as well, causing a major disturbance throughout the hospital premises.
The assault effectively halted medical duties in the ward, leaving a public servant obstructed from doing his job and a doctor physically injured in his own workspace.
Later that night, at 22:30 hours, the matter reached the Chilkalguda Police Station. Following a formal petition detailing the sequence of events, Inspector Valishetty Ramakrishna officially registered a case under Cr No: 259/2026, invoking Sections 221 and 121 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside Section 4 of the Telangana Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2008.

@preethamdnl I really hope that by the time #Varanasi releases or even before, weโll at least have a 1.43 IMAX screen in India and an IMAX in my land Hyderabad. ๐ค๐ค

Madhya Pradesh has pushed total reservation to 73% (SC+ST+OBC 27% + EWS 10%).
This breaks the 50% constitutional cap, and if BJP succeeds here, other states will follow the same playbook.
We must oppose this trend - itโs not just about MP, itโs about the precedent it sets for the whole country.
